Seen all over the runways for Fall 2008 Fashion Week? Day-glo eyes. It seemed like no matter where you looked, the '80s were back in a big way with vibrant yellows, spicy oranges and hot pinks. Often they were paired with more muted clothing that was accented by detailing in the same color as the eye makeup, as at Alexandre Herchcovitch, Benjamin Cho and Behnaz Sarafpour. At Chanel, metallic goldish-yellow was painted all the way up to the eyebrows. And at Derek Lam, color was washed not just above the eye but below as well, creating an almost ethereal effect. Check out what was on hand, in addition to some products you can use to recreate the looks!
COLOR ACCENTS
yellow eyes at Benjamin Cho
orange eyes at Alexandre Herchocovitch
yellow eyes at Behnaz SarafpourTo get the look, try sweeping NARS Blush in Taj Mahal ($25) across your lid and up toward the crease. Hey, blush doesn't have to just be for cheeks!
METALLICS
metallic yellow-gold eyes at Chanel
metallic yellow accents at Tuleh
To get the look, sweep Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Tattle Tale ($18) all the way up to the brow. Use a heavy hand to really pile it on!
For a softer effect, as seen at Tuleh, try Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Honey ($16). Line just the inner corners to really make your eyes pop.
ETHEREAL EFFECTS
orange eyes at John Galliano
yellow eyes at Derek Lam
To get the look, try Bourjois Multi Shimmer Loose Eye Shadow in Rayon Vert ($16). The individualized brush inside the pot really helps to tap just the right amount of shimmer onto the eyes.

SWEET! Take me back to the 80s, I loved em. I secretly hope big, wavy hair comes back in style, too. Then I'm set, LOL!
The Urban Decay in Honey is amazing! I really have to go makeup shopping again. I just spent some money buying some eyeshadow from the Fafi collection. I'm hopelessly in love with eye makeup.
Karen -- I totally agree about the wavy hair! Then I can put away my straightening cream and flat iron for awhile :)
Belle -- I heart everything Urban Decay! And eye makeup too. I totally hear you there! :)
