Great Brand Alert: Nature Girl

I have recently become much more enamored of green beauty. While in the past I would have associated going green with wearing necklaces made of hemp and bathing in sunflower oil, I am definitely jumping on the bandwagon after finding out about fantastic brands like Nature Girl. This brand uses organic, all-natural ingredients that have been cultivated on small, family-run organic farms from all over the world, and they are created without synthetic dyes or fragrances ... and I love that all of their oils (like nut, seed and plant) are cold-pressed and refined using items like paper filters and natural clays.

The packaging for the products is simplistic but eye-catching. White bottles and tubs are emblazoned with graphic text in bold, vibrant hues; sometimes including the ingredients in the product and other times simply setting forth the essence of the product.

I had the opportunity recently to test out some products from the Nature Girl line, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderfulness of each and every product I came across! Here are some of the standouts.

Flower Power Botanical Body Lotion ($46): This soothing moisturizer is one of my absolute favorites from the line. Available in three scents -- rose, neroli and sage -- it's formulated with organic flower oils, aloe vera and herbal extracts that rejuvenate and replenish dry, parched skin. Ingredients such as safflower and apricot kernel oils, oat extract and Vitamin E are super-moisturizing, and the lotion sinks right into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. I especially love the neroli scent, which is a delightfully woodsy mix of meadowsweet and nettle that makes it unnecessary to wear perfume!


Nature Love Shea Butter Body Balm ($62): Once in awhile, you come across a product that has so many fine attributes, you simply can't say anything negative about it. Such is the case with this moisturizer, which sinks into the skin so effortlessly you'd swear your skin always felt that soft and smooth. Shea butter, aloe vera, California lavender water and tons of herbs combine in a rich whipped formula that even got rid of my scaly knees! There are 15 different scents to choose from -- my favorite is definitely Rosemary & Mint, which is deliciously fresh and zesty.

I LOVE ORGANIC Organic Sugar Scrub ($44): Mmm, the delectable scent of lemons. It permeates throughout this scrub with its yummy Lemon Peel scent. And if that's not enough for you, you'll definitely be enamored of its fabulous exfoliating properties. Miniature granules remain separated instead of becoming a sludgy sort of mixture, which helps to rid your body of dry and scaly patches much more effectively. A veritable plethora of good-for-your-skin ingredients abounds here, from Brazilian brown sugar and jojoba oil to calendula and sunflower oils. Your skin will be left feeling fresh, clean and softer than you'd ever imagine possible.
