Ladies and gents, I am quite pleased to report that there is a new column here at The Beauty of Life! The fabulous Christina -- a friend of this beauty chick from our college days -- has graciously offered to write some guest reviews. And trust me, you will not be disappointed. Christina has written for tons of pubs, including the Washington Post, and she KNOWS HER BEAUTY STUFF. So now I bring you the first installment of Christina's Corner, featuring the Somme Institute Value Set. Enjoy!
If I had a super power, it would be zapping wrinkles. I never had a zit in my teens, but early in my 20s fine lines started to appear. I’ve been battling with them for 5 years. I’m proud to report that my buddy at The Beauty of Life has introduced me to the products that (Bam! Boom! Biff!) save the day.
The heroic product? The Somme Institute Value Set, a five-part “Molecular Dispersion Technology” regime. The products are meant to penetrate the skin’s outer layers and deliver potent doses of Vitamins A, B (B3 & B5), C, D and E -- diminishing and eliminating wrinkles and discoloration.
I admit, I was skeptical about a five-step system. It is a bit of work. Here are the products in the set:
Nourishing Cleanser
Transport
Serum
A-Bomb
Double Defense
First, you wash with a clean-rinsing cream cleanser. Next, you swipe your face with pre-moistened toner pads. The pads get your face tingling -- I cut them into 1/3 and 1/4-sized bits to make them last longer. Next, you apply serum and intensive Vitamin A (“A Bomb”) lotion. Finally, you use the SPF 30 lotion during the day. I only used the eye cream at night (a bit of 5-step lag). By this point, you’d expect your face to be oozing with goo. It isn’t. The products are surprisingly absorbent and light.
Now ... drumroll please ... the results. It took a few weeks, but the lines around my mouth all but disappeared. For one, my mom noticed. I saw her about two weeks after I started the system and then about five weeks later. Her first comment was that my skin looks great!
I recognized a difference as well. Late at nights when I’m out at a restaurant or bar, I tend to look at the mirror and, sadly, notice smile lines really jumping out. Since I started using the Somme Institute products, those lines just don’t stand out. They’re not gone, but they are seriously diminished.
The Value Set is $175 at drugstore.com, and there is also a Travel Kit for $85. No one said super power is a steal, but I say it's worth it.

I have been using Somme for 6 years. My skin looks younger and more radiant now than 6 years ago. The system is quickly applied 2x a day. I do it first thing in the morning. It's like putting on a coat of armor to protect my face for the day. The results are nothing less than beautiful. Smooth skin, diminished lines, even color, and it even reduces acne breakout. Somme uses what they call MTB5 to get the vitamins to the dermis layer of your skin. This changes your skin from the inside out. 6 years later, I still see improvements in my skin.
The set may seem expensive upfront but the cleanser lasts about 6 months, the pads last 50 days if you cut them in half, vitamin C lasts 3 months, A-Bomb about 3 months, and sunscreen about 6 months.
Everyone will notice the change in your skin, especially you. It's your decision to share your secret or to just smile and leave them envious of your naturally gorgeous skin!
