Beauty Watch: Taylor Momsen at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex Grand Opening

While many of us may have been questioning little Jenny's antics on Gossip Girl over the last month or two, there's no mistaking that Taylor Momsen's hair and makeup at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex Grand Opening in New York on December 2. She (luckily) ditched the extremely heavy eye makeup she's been sporting as of late and went for a somewhat softer look -- still lining her eyes in black, but pulling back quite a bit. Pairing her lined eyes with a light taupe shadow, glossy coral lip and shaggy locks -- not to mention a dazzling dress -- really made her look work for the opening of the new Rock Hall.

See more photos and learn how to recreate Taylor's look after the jump.

HAIR:
Getting this style at home is actually fairly easy. Start by blowdrying without a round brush -- fingers only! Don't make it too perfect; just finger comb and use the medium heat setting on your dryer to keep it looking messy and imperfect. When hair is dry, spritz Sally Hershberger Shagg Spray ($12.50 at sallyhershberger.com) into your tresses to give them that tousled, wavy look.

COMPLEXION:
Skin should be bright and glowing. While the cheekbones are subtly contoured, the overall look is even and fresh. Use a combination of blush and bronzer to highlight and contour your cheeks while still making sure the rest of your face has a bit of glimmer. Try the NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna ($36 at narscosmetics.com), which contains a peachy pink and sheer light brown that will work perfectly on a variety of skin tones. Use a big fluffy brush to sweep Laguna all over your face, and then use your fingers to add a bit of contour and definition with Orgasm.

EYES:
While the eyes are the focus of the look here, they are still somewhat soft thanks to a pale shimmery shadow and thin black liner. A shadow quad like the Stila Smoky Eye Palette in Bronze ($40 at stilacosmetics.com) will help you achieve this look effortlessly. Start by sweeping the pink champagne shade over your entire lid, stopping just above the crease. Then take the golden bronze shade and sweep from the crease to just below the browbone. Finish by dipping an angled brush into the paler of the brown shades and sweeping subtly underneath the eye from the inner to outer corners. Use a light hand so you don't end up looking like a raccoon.

When it comes to the liner, take a close look at Taylor. Notice that her lids are actually not lined -- there's a cream liner on the upper and lower waterlines only. This is what makes the look a bit softer. Use a cream liner like ck Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Gel Eyeliner in Black Ice ($16 at sephora.com), which comes with a tiny slanted brush that will help you create a precise line. Work slowly so that you don't smudge the color onto your lid or into the hollows of your eyes, and be sure to start at the inner corner and work your way outward right to the outer corner.

A single coat of mascara on the top lashes only will accent without pulling focus. Try L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Black ($8.99 at walgreens.com), which will separate and lengthen lashes precisely.

LIPS:
Notice that there is no shimmer in Taylor's pout -- just a lot of glossiness and juiciness. A gloss like LORAC Mocktail in Tropical Dream ($18 at sephora.com) will slick on easily and effortlessly, leaving behind nothing but a seriously glossy coral lip.
