Whether you're prone to migraines or just get headaches, it can be severely debilitating. I am unfortunately a migraine sufferer, which doesn't bode well for restful sleep or productive days when I'm feeling terrible! I've tried everything -- from drugs like Imitrex or just simple Bayer aspirin to more forceful measures like acupuncture and cutting out caffeine. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But my Beauty Question of the day is this. How do you deal with headaches and migraines? Let me know your secret weapons in the comments!
My physical therapist turned me onto a great trick. Every morning when your alarm goes off, hit the snooze button but instead of just laying there pretending to sleep, take two tennis balls and put them under your neck on the pillow and move your head around until you hit a spot of muscle tension. My migraines start when I have muscle tightness at the base of my skull, and rolling the tennis balls around between your neck and the pillow acts like acupressure to relieve the tension. I do it every morning and it makes a BIG difference in the amount of migraines I get.
ReplyDeleteI drink 8 cups of water every day (more if I work out), and eat regular meals. Also I have to work out and cut back on sugar.
ReplyDeleteFor a beginning migraine a cup of coffee with a couple of over the counter painkillers sometimes does the magic trick.
But sometimes there's nothing to be done about it (periods, weather change) and I just take my migraine pills and crawl into bed.
