Steal the Look: Hairstylist Charles Dujic's Tips for Creating Cheryl Hines' Emmy Awards Look

Cheryl Hines, Charles Dujic, hair, hairstylist, Solo Artists, Emmys, Emmy Awards, 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, celeb, celebrity, red carpetWas actress Cheryl Hines of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame gorgeous on the Emmy Awards red carpet or what? I'm totally in love with her silky yet voluminous blond locks -- and hairstylist Charles Dujic gave me an insider's look on how he created her gorgeous mane!

"My inspiration for Cheryl's hair came from her dress choice -- a gorgeous silver-grey Zac Posen," Charles said. "[It] had this amazing modern construction -- so I wanted to keep her hair very simple and totally modern."

After applying Ojon Hydrating Thickening Spray and Bumble and bumble Defrizz to Cheryl's hair pre-blowdry, Charles parted her damp hair on the left and then blew it dry with a combination of styling products "for a sleek, clean finish," he said. He used small sections to be sure and smooth out her wavy hair. He then gave her a sideswept bang and applied Sebastian Shine Define for shine and support before running a flat iron over her hair layer by layer. Charles finished by adjusting the hair with his fingers and set into place with L'Oreal Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray.

Steal the Look: Hairstylist Theodore Leaf's Tips for Creating Angela Kinsey's Emmy Awards Look

Angela Kinsey, The Office, Emmy Awards, Emmys, 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Theodore Leaf, hair, hairstylist, celeb, celebrity, red carpetAngela Kinsey from The Office looked gorgeous on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards last night. Hairstylist Theodore Leaf gave me an exclusive rundown on how he created the look.

"It was inspired by the dramatic gown, which has a classic Hollywood feel," Theodore said. "We wanted to create something soft yet modern, so we went with a sexy wave tucked up to one side complemented by beautiful volume at the crown."

After blowing out Angela's hair, Theodore sectioned it horizontally from ear to ear and wrapped it in 1-inch sections away from the face, leaving the ends straight. He then worked his way up toward the part, ending around the face, and lightly teased at the crown. Theodore finished by securing one side up with a few large bobby pins before lightly misting with a bit of hairspray.

Steal the Look: Hairstylist David Gardner's Tips for Creating Jessalyn Gilsig's Emmy Awards Look

Jessalyn Gilsig, Glee, hair, hairstylist, red carpet, Emmys, Emmy Awards, 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, David Gardner, Steal the LookThe lovely Jessalyn Gilsig from "Glee" looked ravishing on the red carpet at the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, thanks to hairstylist David Gardner. "I just felt that it should be about her face," he said. "She's so beautiful and didn't want anything to upstage that." He decided to go with a low bun with texture.

David started by waving Jessalyn's hair with a 1-inch barrel curling iron and then lightly textured it by using laminates covering with a fine sprinkling of baby powder. After using a bit of his own Shine Me Gloss Oil Free Finish, he pulled Jessalyn's hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of her neck. He finished by twisting and pinning the hair. "Gorgeous!" he proclaimed of the finished look.

Steal the Look: Hairstylist Charles Dujic's Tips for Creating Heather Morris's Emmy Awards Look

Heather Morris, celeb, celebrity, red carpet, Charles Dujic, Emmys, Emmy Awards, 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Glee, hair, hairstylist"Glee" star Heather Morris rocked a spin on classic Veronica Lake waves at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Hairstylist Charles Dujic was on hand to create the look -- and he gave me exclusive tips on how you can recreate it!

"The waves are a little looser and softer, which gives it a modern twist," Charles said. He began by applying Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to Heather's damp hair. He then made a deep side part and then blowdried it away from her face. Using a mdeium-sized round brush, he blowdried the rest of Heather's hair and then pinned into loops to set for soft volume.

After Charles unpinned Heather's hair, he applied Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode section by section and then used a 1 1/4" curling iron to set the hair in a downward pattern with barrel curls. He finished by finger-combing the hair with Bumble and bumble Brilliantine Styling Creme, brushing it out lightly and putting the waves in place with his fingers before setting with Bumble and bumble Classic Hairspray.

It's About Time: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Professional Size

Urban Decay, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Primer Potion Professional Size, Urban Decay primer, primer, eyeshadow primer, makeup primerI've waxed poetic about my love for Urban Decay Primer Potion time and time again. (Like here, and here, and here, and, well, here.) It keeps eyeshadow in place all day long with no creasing, fading or smudging -- I just haven't found another product like it on the market. EVER.

But the one thing Primer Potion hasn't had going for it all this time? The packaging. The strange, swoopy tube gets so much product caught in it that you literally have to cut it in half to reveal at least half of the primer. So color me happy today, because they're FINALLY launching a much easier to use squeeze tube! Thank goodness for Urban Decay Primer Potion Professional Size -- I can finally get each and every drop without cursing the primer gods.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Professional Size retails for $29.

First Look Fridays: Makeup Artist Gita Bass

Gita Bass, makeup, makeup artist, First Look Fridays, interviewToni Collette. Carey Mulligan. Kate Hudson. Evan Rachel Wood. Ryan Reynolds. What do these celebrities (and more!) have in common? They've all been under the talented hands of makeup artist Gita Bass. A native Australian who's now made her home in NYC, Gita's flawless work simply speaks for itself. Read on to discover her favorite foundation, her top skincare tip and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I was born in South Africa and moved to Sydney, Australia at a young age. I basically grew up on the beach and have a deep love of the ocean! I really thought I was destined for a career in law or medicine and had no concept of the wonderful life I would end up with!

When I was 19, I came to New York for the first time and the city completely seduced me. I landed in JFK and I was overwhelmed by this amazing energy. I spent a week in the city and was utterly smitten. I knew it was a place I had to be -- it's probably the strongest instinct I have ever had. I moved to New York 3 years later, and although my love for JFK may have diminished, my love for NY has only grown and it is now a big part of who I am.

How did you first become interested in makeup, and what led you to become a makeup artist?
I was always obsessed with beauty, fantasy and color, and this led to a deep love of fashion as a teenager. My sister is a photographer, and she was always photographing me and we would copy looks from magazines. We started experimenting on friends as well, and she always complimented my makeup. I continued on my academic path and began my law degree only to wake up on week three unable to breathe and with a deep knowledge that this was not the place for me! My sister and I decided to travel through Japan and Europe, testing models along the way. It was a time I will never forget and my love for makeup was solidified.

Have you worked with any makeup artists who inspired you? What did they teach you?
I think the makeup artists who inspired me the most were the Japanese. I did a bit of modeling while I was there, and their ability to transform me with their unique combination of technique and creativity still amazes me to this day. I also spent a lot of time at a drag bar when I was 18 called The Albury. A couple of my friends were drag queens and I would go backstage and watch them get ready. Although this is not a style that I use today, I still don't think I will ever be as talented as they are! I am still inspired every day in New York by the work of my peers. It just drives me to do better and more beautiful work.

What are some of the moments that have stood out as highlights in your career?
The first time my work made it into a magazine was definitely a highlight! It was a story about freezing your eggs in Cosmo magazine, and the credit ran "makeup by Ceeta Lee" -- but I was so proud! Even now, 14 years later, I still get a small thrill upon seeing my name.

I also consider every time I land in some tropical paradise to be a highlight -- what an amazing job I have!

I'll also never forget my transition into celebrities -- I was so immersed in fashion and just didn't think the celeb world was for me. I suppose I was intimidated. I was sent to do Minnie Driver and we had a really strong connection and she loved her makeup! I consider that day to be a pivotal moment in my career as it sent me on another path -- one which I adore!

What are your top 5 beauty essentials?
Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Giorgio Armani foundation

Stila Convertible Color

Lucas' Papaw ointment

What are your top 3 makeup tips?

1) Take really good care of your skin! If your skin is glowing, your makeup is halfway done!

2) Don't pile on the foundation. Keep it light and blend it in, especially along the jaw line. Check it out in the mirror by your window -- clearly, I am a tad obsessed with skin!

3) Have fun and experiment. Take note of trends but don't be a slave to them. Makeup is all about self expression. Use it to make yourself feel good!

Being a makeup artist must be fun – but what do you do in your spare time?
I try and find an ocean whenever I can! I love the water and it's a big part of who I am. I also love to travel and explore. My husband and I went on an adventure to Vietnam and Cambodia last year, but this year we welcomed our little boy Charlie. My spare time is now dedicated to him.

Some Sort of Amazing: butter LONDON Nail Lacquer Fall Collection

It's rare that I come across an entire nail collection that makes me fall completely, madly, desperately in love. (The last one that comes to mind is the OPI France Collection). But when I discovered the butter LONDON Fall Collection, all bets were off. I love a rich, sparkly polish, and this collection delivers that in spades. See all the polishes after the jump.

All Hail McQueen
butter LONDON founder Nonie Creme created this polish in honor of the late Alexander McQueen. The taupe base is PACKED with multicolored, almost holographic shimmer and sparkle -- this polish is a true attention grabber, as McQueen's collections certainly were. One coat is fairly sheer, so I applied two to give it a more opacity.

Bumster
Also named for Alexander McQueen -- specifically, the extremely low-slung and shocking "Bumster" trousers he designed in 1996. The mustard-yellow creme is honestly my least favorite from the collection only because it's not right for my skin tone. But two coats applied very evenly with no streaking or brush marks left behind.

Marrow
This color was hand-mixed for the designers of Vena Cava last season -- and, true to their quirky form, they named it after the dark purple, rusty center of a bone. I love this color -- the rich violet base is shot through with silver shimmer. This is definitely going to be my next pedicure shade.

Victoriana
If perfection existed in a nail polish shade, Victoriana would be it. Nonie was inspired by the Victorian era when creating this polish -- according to her website, things like corsets, top hats and even Syphilis were the inspirations behind this silvery teal. The finish is actually a cross between matte and jelly, which is really interesting -- definitely not one I've seen before -- and the shockingly vibrant hue is just traffic-stopping.

butter LONDON 3 Free Nail Lacquers retail for $14 each. All samples were received for potential review.

The Secret to Baby Soft Skin: The Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial at Bliss

When I first heard about the Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial at Bliss, I have to admit I was a bit concerned. My last experience with an enzyme facial and peel wasn’t the best -- in fact, my skin was rough and crepey for about two weeks afterward, no matter how much moisturizer I wore and how many masks I applied. But I decided to go into this experience with an open mind, because -- let’s “face” it, I’m pretty addicted to getting facials and experimenting with skincare.

And am I ever glad I did! This facial is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It’s 60 minutes of pure, absolute bliss. I went to the Bliss Soho location (my first time there, and while I prefer Bliss 49, I’m glad I finally had the chance to check this one out). This facial claims to resurface the skin up to 75 percent and smooth up to 32 percent after just one session -- and while I don’t know if that’s true, since I have no idea whether my skin was 75 percent less smooth before – I can definitely attest to the fact that my skin is SO much clearer and softer than beforehand.

Using all Elemis products, of course, my facialist went to work applying creams, masks and scrubs galore. Each felt and smelled more amazing than the next! While one mask was marinating on my face for about 15 minutes, she even gave me a jaw-droppingly fantastic upper body massage. And the extractions? Oh my GOODNESS. My pores have never been cleaner!

The Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial is $180 for 60 minutes. To find a location near you, visit Bliss World, LLC.

Disclosure: This facial was provided free of charge for editorial consideration.

Taylor Momsen, eyeliner, celeb, celebrityOkay, I'm all for heavy eyeliner. But Taylor Momsen really took it a step too far with her raccoon-lined eyes this past week in London.
