And, oh, am I glad I did. Just. Look. At. That. Green. It's described by Zoya as "a deep evergreen garnished with strong metallic shimmer in a velvety MATTEVELVET finish." Yep, pretty spot on. One coat actually already yielded the richness and depth, but I went for two to give it a little more staying power. Zoya recommends that you don't use base coat with these, and I obviously didn't use a top coat either so the matte finish would stay as is -- so how well it lasts remains to be seen, but as of now it's perfect!
It really is a wonder to me that Zoya somehow creates a matte yet velvety texture all at the same time. The velvety look is somehow baked right into the polish, and even though it dries down matte (and it actually dries to the matte finish SUPER quickly -- within two minutes!), it doesn't have the same look as most matte polishes. I think a lot of matte polishes just end up looking dull, which is probably why I don't like them very much. This one? Not dull in the LEAST.
The entire Zoya MatteVelvet nail polish collection. Look at those beauties! |
There are a total of six nail polishes in the MatteVelvet collection. In addition to Veruschka, the collection includes:
Posh: medium cool-toned wine red with metallic red shimmer
Harlow: rich, saturated rose plum packed with sparkling metallic shimmer
Savita: bold, vibrant medium purple with strong red and gold shimmer
Loredana: medium gunmetal grey, packed with silvery shimmer
Dovima: smoky charcoal-black with strong silver shimmer
You can see why it was hard for me to pick just ONE to put on my nails today! I really can't wait to give myself manicures with every color in this collection. They're definitely all going into my permanent stash.
What's on your nails right now? Let me know in the comments!
