Must-Have Mondays: Deborah Lippmann Collection Purple Rain Nail Polish

Are you a fan of Prince? Then you'll definitely love the new color from Deborah Lippmann Collection, the one and only Purple Rain. Inspired by one of the most popular songsters of the 80s, this color packs such a punch that you'd be a fool not to fall in love.

I'm a huge fan of anything purple -- especially when it comes to nail polish -- so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this polish. (No pun intended.) This color was originally blended by Deborah Lippmann specially for the Zac Posen Spring 2009 runway show, in order to match the lipcolor worn on the models.

Two coats yield a gorgeous shimmery lilac that somehow looks perfect for the office and cocktails. It's not too over the top, so it's totally office-appropriate ... but when the lights go down, it looks unbelievable too! (Truth be told, when I went to see the unbelievably horrible Watchmen over the weekend, I spent most of it staring at my nails in the dark in complete and utter fascination.)

My one complaint with the polish is that it does tend to show brush marks if you're not careful with the application. The formula is very thick, so not much is needed on the brush. One coat will be fairly sheer on the nail, while two will bring it to the deep lilac shade I'm currently loving. I have a hunch that Prince would be only all too pleased with this gorgeous polish.
