I'm always a fan of easy, simple, beach-inspired beauty. So the look from the Band of Outsiders show, created by James Kaliardos for M.A.C and Neil Moodie for Bumble and bumble, was really perfect for me. "I just felt like the clothes are just so perfect and minimal and simple and well-fitted, and they don’t need a lot," James told me backstage. "So it was really just about not ruining it in a way, not ruining the girls and just keeping them beautiful." Get all the details after the jump.

"We’re treating it like movie makeup -– it’s not glamorous and bronzy and shiny and crystallized and stuff like that," he said. "It’s very simple, just a sheer foundation and blush. Everyone looks really beautiful."

"Almost a bit like that hair when you go into the ocean and you come out, and it’s got the saltwater in it, and it just dries on its own ... but air-dries and has that amazing texture, with a little bit of movement but not too much. But it still looks a little sexy in a way." To achieve the look, Neil started with Bumble and bumble Prep and then raked a bit of styling cream through the ends, which gave the hair a thicker texture and helped it to dry more matte. He also added a bit of hairspray if the girls' hair needed to be thickened up. After drying with a diffuser, he brushed out the ends "so it's not too stringy," he told me, and then curled random pieces with a large curling iron to add movement. He didn't add any finishing products because "once you start adding other things, it becomes too done, really," he said.

A beachy, sexy California girl -- exactly the look I'm always hoping to achieve!
