Jennifer Garner. Monica. Ciara. Mary J. Blige. Some of the biggest names in the business, right? Well, they've all got one thing in common -- their nails have all been touched by the super fabulous celebrity manicurist Terrance Terry. Read on to discover how he got his start in the business, the fashion show look he created that he's totally in love with, and so much more.
Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I'm from Detroit. I relocated to Atlanta in 2004 to branch into a niche market of luxury nail care. I received my formal training at Sally Esser Beauty Academy in Dearborn Heights, Michigan in 1997. I also attended International Design & Tech Academy for Interior Design.

How did you first become interested in nails, and what led you to become a manicurist?
I became interested in nails when I knew I wanted to go into the beauty industry but didn't want to do hair, so I began to use the nail as my canvas.
What is one of the favorite looks you've created?
Lace nails for the Vera Wang Runway Show NYFW 2010.
What are your top 3 nail tips?
1) Moisturize and condition the nail plate.
2) Whenever polish is worn on natural nails, make sure a great base and top coat are used to ensure proper adhesion and protection.
3) It's never good for women to use nails as power tools. Never open a soda can with nails or dig blindly through your purse or gym bag. This helps to ensure nails aren't chipped or broken accidentally.
What is the most rewarding part of what you do?
I feel my reward is when a client is happy with her natural nails growing on their own without the aid of enhancements such as acrylics and can wear and admire her own.
Being a manicurist must be fun -- but what do you do in your spare time?
I truly enjoy simple stuff like movies and music. I'm so a rock star in my own right!
