Purple Passion: LCN Colour Me Up

Purple is the color of royalty. It's also an extremely passionate hue to me, especially when it's shot through with gold shimmer ... as is the case with LCN Colour Me Up.

I applied this color on a whim last week -- I was traveling to DC for the weekend and needed something bold and fun on my nails! And so I turned to this dark grape.

I have to say, I like it a bit more in the bottle than on the nail. It applied well -- although I would caution you to use extremely thin coats, as it layers a bit goopily if they're on the thick side. But I wish more of the shimmer would appear on the nail than it actually does. Even in sunlight, the shimmer is almost nonexistent. The polish also chipped much faster than I would have liked. I applied it on Friday night, and it's already much the worse for wear.

All that being said, it is a pretty color and it's perfect for a manicure that you don't want to wear for more than a day or two. One coat is basically opaque, so you just need a bit more on a second coat to cover up any patchiness. I also appreciate that it actually appears purple on the nail, instead of black like some dark purples tend to.
