Zoya has released the Lovely Collection for Spring 2013 -- a collection of six pastel nail polishes that just scream for warm weather. (Such a cruel joke that we have to endure months of cold and snow before we can really show off our pedicures, isn't it?) The collection is comprised of three shimmer polishes and three cremes. Read on for swatches and my review of each color in the collection! All are seen with two coats.
THE CREMES:
Neely is a mint green creme. Definitely my favorite of the three cremes in this collection -- it was a little streaky upon application, but I just think the color is so gorgeous. Great for spring and summer pedicures!
Blu is, as one might imagine, pale blue. Another really pretty color from the creme side of things, and definitely easier to apply than Neely. Zoya describes this one as a hyacinth blue, but I'd err on the side of sky.
Jacqueline is probably my least favorite in the collection, just because I don't really wear yellowish nude cremes. I also found application to be streaky and patchy, which you will notice even with two coats above. And, finally, I really don't like this color with my skin tone.
THE SHIMMERS:
Gie Gie surprised me -- I normally don't like pale pink nail polishes, but this one really sold me. Strangely, it's spelled "GeiGei" on Zoya's website, but my bottle clearly says Gie Gie. In any case, this metallic polish -- originally created for fashion designer
Zang Toi -- really glimmers and shimmers. Application was easy and streak free, yielding absolutely gorgeous color.
Julie is the other standout in this collection for me. I love a good metallic purple polish, and this pale lilac with silver shimmer just gets it so right. This was also originally created for the Zang Toi show and inspired by muse
Julie Macklowe. I have a LOT of purple nail polish, and there's nothing in my collection that even comes close.
Piaf is the other color in the collection that just falls flat for me. The yellowish green hue does nothing for my skin tone, and I am not a huge fan of the color in general. My high school French class did a huge section on
Edith Piaf, in which I became extremely burnt out on
La Vie En Rose and
L'Accordioniste, so this might have something to do with my less than love of this color as well.
The Zoya Lovely collection is available now at
zoya.com. Polishes are $8 each, or you can buy the set for $48.
I love the 4 colors too, I'll skip Piaf and Jacqueine. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteI love the mint, which kind of surprises me. I'm usually all about the red or the wine color (this fall, anyway). And you're SO right, my feet look great right now thanks to Carol's Daughter shea butter foot stuff...(whatever the heck it's called!)
