With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
-- Copacabana, Barry Manilow
When I still lived in New York (which, at this point, feels like AGES ago), I wandered into the Sephora in the Meatpacking District one sunny Saturday afternoon. I knew I needed to pick up more nail polish remover, and I just wanted to browse the new arrivals. Well, lo and behold, I found something I simply couldn't live without ... Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer. I really wanted every single color, but I made myself stop at just two: Nirvana, which I previously reviewed here, and Lola.
I would describe Lola as the absolute perfect tomato red. It's creamy, it's luscious, it's rich ... it's ARRESTING. It's completely opaque in two coats. Quite simply, it's that red that makes you feel so chic and sophisticated the moment you sweep it onto your nails (which, in my opinion, look best short and rounded with this color). The hue is playful enough for summer yet sultry enough for winter.
And the bottle, oh, the bottle. The curved, slightly rectangular and oversized bottle is so elegant. It's almost like a mini perfume bottle -- perfect for displaying on your vanity.
Lola has quickly stolen my heart. I'm fairly certain it will steal yours, too.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Lola retails for $18 at sephora.com.
