The new Fall 2014 collection from Chanel, États Poétiques, is here ... and, true to form, the nail polishes are stunning. This collection is meant to express passion and emotion through evocative, romantic colors. Three nail polishes, ranging from light to dark, balance out the eyeshadows and eyeliner in the collection.

Atmosphère is a shimmering, iridescent duochrome. It changes from pearly white to rich lilac depending on the light. While I don't always go for semi-sheer, pearlescent polishes, this one has a decidedly unfussy quality that I'm loving. Two coats make it almost completely opaque, which is pretty rare for a polish like this. When I first saw it, I thought it was very similar to Intermezzo, but upon swatching, realized Intermezzo is more opaque and on the pinker side. This would be a beautiful color to wear for a summer wedding.

Orage is an intensely deep, smoky navy -- so deep, in fact, that it hinges somewhere between charcoal and black. Baked into the formula are miniature glitter particles that make the polish seem like it's dancing when they catch the light. The glitter isn't as subtle as Taboo, which is almost nonexistent once the color is on the nail. I LOVE this polish and it's perfect for fall. Two coats yielded completely even, opaque color with no streaking -- and, for a dark polish, it was surprisingly easy to apply around the cuticles.

Secret is a pale pinkish beige creme. Depending on your skin tone, this could be perceived as nude. I had slight application issues with this one -- even seen here, with three coats, there are subtle streaks on the pinky and index finger. But it is a very pretty, if somewhat safe, color. If you like pale nail polishes, this is a good choice for you.

The Chanel Fall 2014 États Poétiques Collection is available now. The three nail polishes retail for $27 each and can be purchased at chanel.com.

Curious about some of the other Chanel polishes in my stash? Be sure to check out my post on my entire Chanel nail polish collection (which is actually a bit outdated already!).
