You know those nail polishes that you think you should buy ... and then they disappear before you get the chance? And THEN you just spend your life wishing you would have spent the money and purchased that color, and you keep thinking about it and thinking about it? Well, that's how
Chanel Blue Boy was for me. I KNEW I should have snapped up the colors from 2011's
Les Jeans de Chanel Collection, but I just never did it, and then I lost my chance. At least I THOUGHT I did ... and then, during a layover in the Madrid airport two weeks ago, heaven appeared to me in the form of
Blue Boy. (I also bought
Blue Rebel, which I'll show to you in an upcoming post!) And oh, how heavenly this color truly is.
Blue Boy is one of those colors that's different depending on the light. It actually reminds me a lot of
M.A.C Blue India from the Give Me Liberty of London Collection back in 2010. It's this utterly gorgeous hybrid of deep blue and charcoal grey that's sexy, chic and sophisticated with just a little bit of rocker edge. I found that I needed three coats for complete opaque coverage -- two were almost perfect but still had a bit of show through. Three yielded absolutely perfect, creamy color.

Nail Rock Glitter Dust Red. Even without the glitter on top, this is a rich, stunning red. |
To add a bit more depth, I decided to do an accent nail with
Nail Rock Glitter Dust Red. I received this in my Birchbox a few months back and, even though I liked it, had never really found the right opportunity to USE it. I know this manicure might be a little too July 4th for some, but I really love the combination of the deep, dusty blue with the fiery, glittery red. I put top coat over the glitter, which I think dulled it a bit -- next time I use it, I'll try without and see how it holds up.

Look at all that gorgeous red glitter! |
Blue Boy is DEFINITELY one of those colors I'm super excited to add to my collection. Thank goodness the Madrid airport had it!
