Throwback Thursday: My First Glasses (AKA the Most Hipster I'll Ever Be)

When I was in 5th grade, I had to get my first pair of glasses. Well, I say "had to," except I actually really wanted them back then. (Now, I'm contemplating Lasik, but that's another story.) I was SO excited to go to the eye doctor and get to pick out my very own specs. I tried on every single pair in the store, and ended up choosing what you see here -- huge dark purple plastic frames.

I'm not exactly sure what I was thinking by wearing glasses that were half the size of my face, but I just LOVED them. Honestly, my eyes weren't even that bad back then -- I didn't really even need glasses too much -- but I wanted to wear these all the time. I just felt SO COOL.

Little did I know that this is the most hipster I'd ever look...

And yes, I'm on a landline phone with a receiver and a long twisty cord. We had those back then.
