#ManiMonday: KBShimmer Don't Play Koi from the Summer 2016 Collection

KBShimmer is one of those brands I've thought about buying for, well, basically FOREVER. I keep seeing swatches, and they keep making me sad that I don't own any of the polishes, but then I don't just go and BUY them. Well, that all changed last week when I finally bit the bullet and bought not one but FOUR KBShimmer polishes to get my collection started! As soon as they arrived, my only problem was deciding which one to paint my nails with first. After a long, hard look at each one, I chose KBShimmer Don't Play Koi.

Seriously, just look at those cool multicolored glitter flecks.

Don't Play Koi is from the new Summer 2016 collection, and I have to say this color does not disappoint. I actually didn't have any white polishes in my collection to begin with, let alone one with multicolored glitter mixed in, so it was a no brainer to snap this one up immediately.

I'm pretty much obsessed with how this color turned out once I applied it. One coat was already pretty opaque, but two? Perfect. I love how the coral, aqua and grey hexagonal and microglitters scatter across the nail, and they just look so perfect together. I would have liked to see a bit more glitter come out with the first coat, but after some shaking and rolling around of the bottle, I definitely got more out for the second.

This is a crelly formula, which is more on the opaque side but definitely buildable. Some describe it as squishy. I found the color to be extremely buildable -- I wonder how much more glitter I would see coming through if I applied a third coat, but I wanted to stop at two.

KBShimmer Don't Play Koi is just such a unique color for summer.

I also really love that KBShimmer is made in Terre Haute, IN -- because I went to Indiana University! I didn't even realize it until I got my polishes and saw the return address on the shipping label. Go Hoosiers!

This is SUCH a great color for summer. Maybe it's because I typically don't wear white polish, but I seriously can't stop staring at my nails now that this is on them! It's just so unique and fun, and really makes a strong statement.
