The thing about Essie Gel Couture is that it's nail polish, but with a gel-like finish that lasts for up to 14 days. Safe for the nails, no curing with a UV lamp needed, and regular polish removal. So, basically, it's heaven on earth!
And when it comes to Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Closing Night? OH. MY. GOD. This polish is from the Ballet Nudes Collection that was released earlier this year, and I'm here to tell you it is one absolutely gorgeous color. It's a soft bluish dove grey shot through with pastel blue shimmer. In other words, perfection.
I have noticed that the shimmer is a bit fainter on me than I had seen in other people's swatches. The picture above is taken in direct sunlight, where the shimmer definitely shines through more clearly. Indoors, the shimmer is noticeable but VERY faint, as you can see here...

But I have to say, either way, I'm totally in love with this color. It's such a beautiful dove grey/blue hybrid that looks great summer or winter, spring or fall, dressed up or down. It's a beautiful new neutral and unlike the other colors in my collection. The wear is also quite good -- I'm currently on day 5 with minimal tip wear and chipping! I sealed in the shine and color with the Essie Gel Couture Top Coat, which is specially formulated to use with the Gel Couture shades. I'm interested to paint my nails with this shade again, using a different top coat, to see if the wear is any different.
I also really love the bottle shape. The twisted design is so unique -- I want to display these bottles all over my apartment!
One thing is certain, though -- now I really wish I owned a tutu and could pirouette so I could feel like a ballerina in this shade!
Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Closing Night retails for $11.50 at kohls.com.
I am a big fan of the essie Gel Couture polishes. They definitely last better on me than their regular line. I'm hoping they'll have more colors soon
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Essie had gel-finish polishes. I'm too lazy to cure, and worry about the lamp burning off my skin, so I have to try these.
ReplyDeletePretty shade of gray! I haven't tried the Essie gels yet but I do admire the beautiful bottles and shades when I walk by them at the stores.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried these yet but that's a color I'd love to wear. I'll have to see if anyone at my nail salon has this shade.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried Essie Gel Coutoure polishes, but I do like that you don't need a lamp to cure them and the result lasts longer than with regular polishes. I'm not into grey nail polishes, however, Closing Night looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used "essie" nail polishes yet, but i like the gel type finish look. I have a few from another brand and they are really great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not into gel nails, either. I did acrylics, way back when, I still have bumps and dips in my nails from the damage from them. I'd like to try the Essie Gel Couture, tho. I like this shade you are wearing, I'm crazy for a good grey!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this color, and it looks perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteI love that shimmer, but that bottle drives me bonkers!
ReplyDeleteI am so going to have to pick this up! The shot of blue really makes it something special.
ReplyDeleteI need to try a polish like this, because I seriously cannot get a polish to wear on me longer than 5 hours without chipping lol
ReplyDeleteI love this shade! I have it on my toes!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really pretty grey. I haven't tried this formula of Essie yet
