If you know me at all, you know how much I love Disneyland and all things #DisneyStyle! Since the parks are closed for the foreseeable future, it got me thinking -- why not still have a little fun with my Disney fashion? And voila --
#EarsOutsidetheParks was born!
I had the idea for this challenge back in March, when everything first started shutting down in LA and across the country. I wanted to bring people together through positivity, fun and light, even while social distancing -- to give us all a reason to smile through the darkness. I have so many pairs of Minnie ears in my wardrobe, and I wanted the chance to wear them even if I couldn’t visit the parks for awhile.
I put together this challenge and asked some of my Disney fashion faves to join in. And wow, did everyone's looks knock it out of the park! (Pun intended!) The first few days of April were dedicated to fun, fashion and LOTS of Minnie ears. I chose to dress my ears up all week in outfits that I'd normally wear, and actually did wear throughout the week -- no outfits just for photos here! Read on for all the looks I put together throughout the week!

I kicked things off with an outfit themed around my new Mickey balloon ears, because come on, they are the coolest!! I didn't get a chance to wear these in the parks before everything shut down, so I simply had to put together an outfit themed around them and my Mickey balloon popcorn bucket! Akira dress. JustFab sneakers. |

I did things a little differently on day 2, because it was also my mom's birthday! My main photo featured the two of us in front of the castle, but I recreated things with the ears I'd been wearing that day! I love these Ariel ears and reach for them a lot when I'm in the parks -- they dress up otherwise plain outfits and instantly add a little mermaid style! |

Is there ever a type of clothing or accessory that you like, but just don’t think looks good on you? That’s how I feel about baseball caps. I love the way they look on other people, but I’m just never sure if they’re ME. But when I saw this Cakeworthy Minnie Ears cap, I immediately changed my tune! I went for a look inspired by my gal Minnie Mouse with a simple and comfortable Asos dress, red polka dot espadrilles, and the pièce de resistance -- these super fun lip earrings I found recently at H&M! |

You know, I think Coco Chanel may have been wrong about the whole “take one thing off before you leave the house” thing. Especially in the case of a fun, vibrant outfit to pair with an oversized Minnie ears bow headband. For this look, I went for BOLD! When I first started going to Disneyland regularly, I dressed fairly ... well, boring, honestly. I always wore Minnie ears, of course, but I kept the rest of my outfit pretty simple. That’s definitely not the case anymore! I love having fun with my Disney outfits—even if, like today, I’m just hanging out at home.
I actually tried on this headband multiple times over multiple park visits. Every time, I decided it was too big, too ostentatious, too MUCH. So I always put it back—a little regretfully, to be sure, but I’d leave the park without it. Then, one day, I decided I was crazy not to own it. By that time, it wasn’t available at Disneyland anymore, so I found it on Poshmark and scooped it up in a heartbeat! I went for multiple prints in a coordinated color scheme. I knew I wanted to pair this headband with my amazing Nooworks dress, and then I added my Femme de Bloom polka dot heart earrings for an extra touch of Minnie style. | |

It had been grey and rainy in LA for awhile at this time -- which normally wouldn’t bother me, but since I was stuck in the house aside from taking walks, it kind of put a damper on my spirit. But I decided to turn the grey into sunshine with a simple Eeyore bound! I started with these amazing Winnie the Pooh ears from Ears Outside the Parks (one of my fave small shops!) and then added my Asos grey jumpsuit and JustFab yellow peep-toe booties. Simple, easy, and chic Eeyore! |

I went for a loose take on Ariel for my penultimate day of the challenge. (Side note: man, do I love the word penultimate.) When I put this look together, I envisioned Ariel stepping out for a night on the town—post sea legs, of course. I structured it around my Back from Bali floral tunic dress (FYI this is the most comfortable dress EVER) and my Mice and Thread Ariel ears. And Ariel would still want her bestie Flounder around, of course -- so he came along in the form of this adorable bag I got at Target! |

I chose to finish this challenge in an outfit inspired by my Mickey Treat ears. Because, let’s face it, I am eating a LOT of treats in quarantine. I’m usually a salty over sweet person -- and I hardly ever use my kitchen -- but in the past few weeks, I’ve actually baked multiple times! So it just felt right to end this challenge on a super sweet note. (Psst: this dress is actually a maxi skirt I got on Amazon!) |
