Calgel: The Amazing New Manicure Everyone Should Try

How I prepared for Fall 2009 Fashion Week? With a fabulous new manicure, of course! But this wasn't just any manicure. No, this was Calgel.

Don't know what Calgel is? Don't worry, I didn't either until earlier this week! Calgel is a superior nail gel system that looks amazing, lasts for up to 4 weeks and soaks off in 15 minutes. Available in over 80 colors with tons of customizable designs, this honey-like liquid is applied to your actual nail and can basically be adapted to anything your little heart desires. (Get the full details here.)

Armed with a basic knowledge of the process, I stepped into Sakura Nail and Spa on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Friday night along with my fave PR gal, Heather Park from M.A.C. Heather is a total convert to Calgel and had been Twittering about it for weeks, so I decided to see what all the fuss was about and join her! While I could have gone for something simple and easy, I figured there was no fun in that ... so I went for a fairly crazy design of a creamy white base with fuchsia flowers, lavender stems and tons of holograms and glitter. The end result is, dare I say it, pretty darned fantastic. I've literally been getting compliments ever since!

Check out another picture of my nails below!

Now, this process is anything but simple. It literally took two hours of painstaking work on the part of my nail technician from start to finish. Plus I made her change the original design from green leaves to purple! But at the end of the day, I was so excited and pleased with the results that I'm pretty sure I'll be a Calgel fanatic from now on. Be forewarned -- this process doesn't come cheap. Mine was $82. But don't you think it's worth it for such a thing of beauty?

  2. I love yours but the others with dark tips look dirty to me for some reason.

  3. 2 hours?! I don't think I have the patience to sit for this, no matter how nice it looks. But your nails do look cool!

  4. That sounds so amazing. $82 seems worth it for manicures that last several weeks

  5. The content you have provided is pretty interesting and useful and I will surely take note of the point you have made in the blog.

Today while I was surfing the Internet, I read about Gel Nails being the latest trend now in the nail fashion industry. After reading about gel nails, I think it’s a great way to dress up your nails giving them a trendy look. I also came across this site gel-nails where you can check out some really cool stuff for your nail decoration.

If you are a professional nail artist or run a nail salon, you can get a bulk order discount and use the best nail products for your customers. I have bought the professional luxury gel nail kit from here and this is great value for my money.

I thought this information might be useful for anyone looking for genuine nail decoration stuff and may not know where to buy them from.

  6. I get Cal Gels in Shanghai China. Your nails will grow out long before your polish needs changing. They're great!

  7. Oh please the price is rediculous. My sister can make the same designs with regular nail polish, nail polish that comes with a special brush for small designs, and clear coats. She did my nails and they stayed on for a month and a half when I was taking a shower every day. And mine is free and only $5-10 for other people. Cal Gel is a rip off.
