Beauty Question: Who Does Your Nails?

mani, manicure, nail, nails, nail polishI used to be a victim of the every week mani. I'd shell out the big bucks every Sunday for someone to shape and buff my nails, push back my cuticles and swipe on a coat of polish. But then I realized something. Even though my complete manicuring skills weren't necessarily up to par, I could paint my nails with the best of them. Little by little, I started weeding out the weekly manis until, finally, I did them myself. And now? I get compliments on my polish choice and application every week -- and most of the time, they last longer than the professional ones I used to pay for every week.

Now, this is not to say I don't enjoy a good manicure. Gals like TracyLee Percival are welcome to work their manicure magic on me anytime! But on a weekly basis, I've moved to painting them myself. So this is my Beauty Question of the day: Who does your nails? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I usually get my nails done at a salon but if my schedule is too hectic, I'll give myself a home manicure.

  2. I give myself manicures. I feel like my home stash of nail polish has more interesting colors then any salon could really offer, plus one bottle of polish (which is good for tons of home manicures) costs the same as a SINGLE manicure. You gotta love the savings. Also, I find that after four years of practice, I'm faster then a salon. =) The only reason I'd go to a salon is for cuticle maintenance. I stink at properly taking care of my cuticles.

  3. home manicure - got tons of polish and years of practice ;o)
once in a while though, i treat myself to a salon manicure (usually on vacation), but most of the time, i invest the "mani money" in new polish...
