Make an Impact: Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara

Clinique, Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara, mascara, eye makeup, makeup
It takes a lot to get me excited about a mascara. I've been blessed with fairly thick, long and curly lashes on my own, so for a mascara to really stand out it needs to dramatically change my appearance. We're talking lashes that curl up to my browbones and hit my glasses. Well, consider me impressed -- because Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara does just that.

When I first used this mascara, I was a little put off by the curved brush. It definitely took some getting used to! But now that I've got it down to a science, this is the wisdom I can impart:

1) Apply this mascara before the rest of your eye makeup. That way, if there are any mistakes or smudges (which there will be!), you can remove them without messing up your entire look.

2) Make sure the concave part of the wand (hint: the curve that goes inward) is the one that grips your lashes.

3) Apply in the middle of your lashes first, as this is where the wand will grip easiest. Then use the end of the wand to apply in the inner and outer corners.

4) Apply thickly -- it won't clump, and you'll only have need for one coat!

My overall impression? My lashes are long, thick and voluptuously curly without the use of an eyelash curler -- and it lasts all day! If possible, it looks even better the longer you wear it. One last word of advice: Really take care to remove it well at night. If not, you'll find little flakes on your pillow in the morning.

Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara retails for $16 at sephora.com.

You should try a lash perm! This treatment gives you the lift that you are after and lasts for up the three months. You can specialize the intensity of the curl, with a tight spring in the curl or a more relaxed lift depending on the effect that you are after. Combining this with a lash tint and you can hit the pool, gym, sauna or shower and still look fabulous without an inch of mascara on!
