Beauty Question: Do You Like Your Freckles?

As a child, I spent a fair amount of time in the sun -- and as a result, I had tons of freckles sprinkled across my nose and cheeks. I always yearned for them to stay year-round, but alas, once the sun disappeared in the dreary Midwest winters, so did my freckles.

As I've gotten older, freckles don't come out too much on my cheeks anymore -- but if I'm in the sun enough, I will find them sprinkled across my forehead. I mainly have them on my shoulders and upper arms.

But it's the age-old question, isn't it? Do you like your freckles? I'm of the camp who absolutely loves them. I think they add character and visual interest to my super-pale skin. Let me know your thoughts on freckles in the comments!

  1. Love my freckles! I'm always happy when they come out more in the summer. Although I've read that when they show up in the summer, it shows your skin is damaged -- but I love 'em! I don't look like myself if I cover them up!

  2. If you turn you arm over and look, it will remind you that none of us were born with freckles, but I agree they add character. But freckles are a result of sun damage and there is a great deal that goes on beneath the skin from sun exposure though-out our lives that can make our skin lack radiance.

If any of you are interested in learning more about freckles and sun damage, I work with Rodan + Fields Dermatologists. We specialize in REVERSING the aging effects of sun damage, as well as acne, aging and sensitive skin.

  3. I generally like my freckles. I don't miss them when they fade in the winter, but I always welcome them when they reappear in the summer once I've been in the sun!

  4. I have grown to love them. I tried as a kid to make them go away but have found as I get older they make me stand out. I have them all year long and more so in the summer months. My only problem has been finding the right foundation that does what I want in a fairly sheer base so as not to make my freckles look mottled.

  5. I don't mind my freckles, but every time I look at them, it reminds me of how much sun damage I've had as a kid! The few freckles I have on my face are now way lighter than before because I use so much sunscreen, but now I'm getting freckles everywhere - the old sun damage is coming to the surface!

  6. I've never thought about my freckles one way or the other. I usually get them on my nose and shoulders when the sun comes out. Coming from a family where my dad is a redhead and has tons of freckles, mine always seemed mild in comparison. However, my hubby will tell you that he loves them! He says I've been kissed by the sun. *sigh*
