The 83rd Annual Academy Awards: My Favorite Looks

Another awards season has come and gone, culminating last night in the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. And while the show itself left a little to be desired (Anne Hathaway is apparently a "Woo Girl," James Franco was seemingly high, the show itself was pretty darn boring), there were, of course, some truly amazing looks on the red carpet. Check out my favorites after the jump.

While I didn't really love Reese Witherspoon's dress -- it looked like a knockoff of the Valentino Julia Roberts wore back in 2001 -- I absolutely loved her Barbie-esque high ponytail. While many celebrities went safe with their hair on the red carpet last night, leaving it down in loose ringlets, at least Reese took a chance and did something fun!

Motherhood most certainly agrees with last night's Best Actress winner Natalie Portman. The jewel-toned, flowing Rodarte dress and tasseled Tiffany earrings looked perfect against her skin tone, and her baby bump was perfectly accented.

What's not to love about the Elie Saab dress Mila Kunis wore last night? The intricate cutout lace panels, the flowing train, the pale lavender hue, the lace cup details at the bust ... all added up to one winning look.

I love to see a teenager looking age appropriate on the red carpet, and last night Hailee Steinfeld did just that. She helped design her sparkle-encrusted Marchesa dress -- and, paired with a high bun and slender headband, she looked every inch the sophisticated yet girly ballerina.

To me, Gwyneth Paltrow can do no wrong. She was simply stunning in a futuristic, shimmering Calvin Klein sheath, complete with a jewel-encrusted peacock pin by Louis Vuitton at the hip.

I really love that Cate Blanchett takes chances on the red carpet. Her beaded lavender dress by Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci was cool, exotic and extremely sophisticated with her close-cropped blonde bob.

  1. I really didn't love Paltrow's look. The dress did nothing for her. I think I would have preferred it on someone like Halle.

Too many on the red carpet looked washed out by their choices.

  2. Of everyone I saw last night, my favorites were Mila Kunis and Gwyneth. And I was so jealous of Anne Hathaway's hair!
