12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors from Jamie and Katie: RGB Steel & Nubar Wildlife

Some people's beauty obsessions are obvious early in life. For my best friend, Katie Reed, and me, it was definitely nail polish. We've been in love with cool, bold colors since the early 90's -- we used to trade them back and forth while sitting in our high school hallways before class. For the next 12 days, we'll be bringing you some of our favorites in what we're calling 12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors.

Jamie: My color today is RGB Steel. I've been having a pretty big love affair with RGB this past year, ever since discovering the brand's awesomeness at Tenoverten (which, coincidentally, is my favorite nail salon of the past year). In any case, Steel is one of my very favorite RGB colors and a staple in my permanent collection. It's the perfect shade of creamy -- you guessed it -- steel grey. Great when you want to stay in the nude family but kick things up a notch. It applies smoothly, evenly and beautifully in two coats and, like all RGB polishes, lasts with minimal to no chipping for at least a week.
RGB Steel retails for $16 at beauty.com.

Katie: Today's color is Nubar Wildlife -- another duochrome that I adore. You know you've got a special shade when you got compliments not only from a lady on the bus, but also from your bank teller -- all in the same day. Wildlife was part of a completely incredible collection of green polishes that came out a few years ago. It is a frosty chartreuse that flashes a fantastic pinkish-copper. Unlike a lot of duochromes, Wildlife's color change can be seen in all lighting situations. I took this photo in my car on the way to work because I thought it looked pretty stunning with these J. Crew fingerless gloves I picked up last winter. This is with three coats of polish and after two days of wear. I don't have a lot of Nubar polish, but I've been very impressed by the formula of the colors I've got in my stash.
Note: Nubar Wildlife isn't available for purchase anymore, unless you can find it at a beauty supply store or the like.
