Some people's beauty obsessions are obvious early in life. For my best friend, Katie Reed, and me, it was definitely nail polish. We've been in love with cool, bold colors since the early 90's -- we used to trade them back and forth while sitting in our high school hallways before class. For the next 12 days, we'll be bringing you some of our favorites in what we're calling 12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors.
Jamie: When picking my top colors for this feature, I realized that I'm in love with a lot of nudes. But one of the best?
Deborah Lippmann Fashion. I've used it so many times, both on its own and for various nail art projects (my absolute favorite being my
newspaper nails). Fashion is just that perfect shade of nude -- it's got a touch of peach in it, but it really does lean more on the taupe side of things. It covers the nail completely in two thin coats. And most of all? It's just so incredibly chic.

Katie: I own exactly one Chanel polish, and it's today's color:
Chanel Haute Chocolat. I like a lot of their colors, but can't convince myself to part with the cash to buy them. So you can be certain that I think Haute Chocolat is one of the most special colors I've ever seen. This rich chocolate brown looks good enough to eat, and the fine gold glitter differentiates it from other shades. Brown is one of my favorite colors, and I love that this one doesn't learn red like a lot of brown polishes. It has a very sumptuous tone. Haute Chocolat was released for Holiday 2008, though I will tell you I've been known to wear this one absolutely year round. I mean, who doesn't like a good bar of chocolate, not matter what the weather? It's shown here with two coats.
