So, here's the thing. I've never really been a big fan of Valentine's Day. (Happy Valentine's Day, by the way!) It's not a question of being single OR being in a relationship ... either way, I've always felt that the holiday makes people think they only have to tell their loved ones that they LOVE them on one specific day. I'd rather love people year round, wouldn't you?
But I couldn't help getting in the Valentine's Day spirit with my nail polish this year. Red and pink polishes have slowly become some of my favorites -- and this is coming from a girl who was drowning in blues, pinks and greens up until this past year! I decided to put together a collection of some red and pink nail polishes just perfect for Valentine's Day. Get ready to fall in love!
THE REDS
One of the Liquid Sand polishes from the new Mariah Carey Collection, this color had me at hello. I love the candy apple base, the gritty texture, the holographic silver stars ... and the fact that this polish is so different than anything else I've seen. My only complaint is that it is pretty difficult to get the stars out of the bottle and onto the nail -- I actually had to pour some out and then place them individually with a toothpick. But it's a small price to pay for a color that's this stunning.
Around $8, difficult to find but may be in some beauty supply stores
You know those colors that just grab you from the moment you lay eyes on them? That's how Elisa was for me. The crimson hue, shot through with gold shimmer, just spoke to me and I knew I'd love it on my nails as much as I loved it in the bottle. This is a great pedicure color for winter, too.

This is one of those shades that just looks exactly how you'd expect it to, based on the name. It's jelly-like (but not a jelly finish), it's liquid gorgeousness, and it's just the most perfect shade of candy apple red.

This is one of the shades from the new(ish) Sephora X The Cosmics Collection. I LOVE THIS COLOR. It's glittery, it's ruby colored, it commands attention ... basically, it's the perfect red.

THE PINKS
I had this sitting in my bag of to-be-trieds for the LONGEST TIME. And I kept wanting to use it, but the idea of so much glitter being so impossible to remove kept me from doing so. Well, am I ever glad I finally broke out the bottle, because the polish actually looks so much different on the nail! Multicolored glitter of various sizes rests within a creamy pale pink base. Two coats yield the coverage you see above, which isn't necessarily full, but it's not sparse, either. And to my delight? The polish was super easy to remove, even without soaking my nails first!

This color could honestly go in either the red or pink category, even though it's got "pink" in its name. But it does lean a bit more pink, so I'm going with that. The sparkle in this one is unmatched, the coverage is out of this world and it glitters just like a princess's tiara. Sold.

As I write this, I'm actually staring at my three-week-old pedicure with just this shade. It's a true stunner -- deep, rich fuchsia with a hint of shimmer. It's definitely one that could be worn year round and, if you're into repeating shades, over and over and over and ... well, you get the picture.

This one would normally be way too saccharine for my tastes, but hey -- it's Valentine's Day, I'm feeling a little more girly than usual. I really do love the cotton candy hue and the fact that it's opaque and creamy in two coats.
