But this isn't just any bright red. Wendy and I looked at a LOT of photos of red hair to make sure we picked out the perfect shade. Right now I'm really loving bright coppers, mainly because I'm still (and always) inspired by Christina Hendricks of Mad Men. But I really wanted to do something a little different this time, punch it up in some way -- so we decided to add blonde into the mix to make it really stand out. I spent close to 3 hours in the salon on Saturday afternoon, and the end result was totally worth every minute!
As you can see from the photo above, my locks are pretty darn red! I'm really liking the blonde streaks at the bottom -- it's inspired by ombre, but more bold. The colors do fade into each other but it's definitely not subtle. I really love dip-dyed hair but am not sure yet if I can pull it off, so this is a great way for me to test the waters. I love looking down at my strands and seeing the blonde coming through!

Obviously I love red hair, since I talk about it all the time and I pretty much always GO red in the stylist's chair. But I also want to make sure that when the color starts to fade, it still looks natural (because, let's face it -- I am not very proactive about making hair color appointments). I'm predicting that this color will fade to a really gorgeous auburn, and will look pretty darn good when it begins growing out, while the blonde streaks will continue to add depth.
