10 Problems Only Girls with Thick Hair Understand

10 problems only girls with thick hair understand, Jamie Allison Sanders, top 10 list, big hair
Managing this mane? It proves to be a challenge.
Do you have thick hair? Well, I do ... and I'm here to tell you it is NOT easy to deal with. These are just 10 of the problems I encounter on a daily basis.

10 problems only girls with thick hair understand, Jamie Allison Sanders, top 10 list, big hair, hotel blowdryer, hair dryer
1) This blowdryer, which is found in many hotels. Are they kidding? What exactly am I supposed to dry with this, my eyelashes? Or do they expect that I have the next four hours free?

2) No matter how many hairs come out of your head in the shower, you're still left with a mane three times the size of anyone else on the planet.

3) Speaking of the shower ... I don't know about you, but my drain sure gets overrun with hair on the regular. No amount of Liquid-Plumr is helping to solve THAT situation. I've become quite comfortable asking my maintenance man to snake my drain.

4) Not even bothering to wash and flat iron on humid days. Seriously, it's just going to become a lion's mane the second you walk out the door, anyway.

5) Snapping ponytail holders in half, oh, EVERY DAY.

6) Putting your hair in a ponytail while wet = never having it dry. Ever.

7) Thinning shears at the salon are your best friend. If a stylist doesn't use them, you never go back there.

8) "Big Texas Hair" may be a thing, but you've got the ability to create that with no products whatsoever. It's called summertime.

9) Use a comb? Haha, that's hilarious.

10) You should pretty much just buy stock in your favorite conditioner, because you'll go through at least 5 bottles every couple months.

  2. Oh yes, I love the thinning sheers! I always tell my stylist to go to town with them, otherwise I'm a poofy mess lol.

    1. Right? If a stylist doesn't use them, I think there's a huge problem. And the huge problem is my huge hair.

  5. I use to have super thick hair, but all the bleaching has thinned it out a bit... I remember it took forever for my hair to dry hehe

    1. My hair definitely took a beating from the dyeing this past year, but I still have SO MUCH.

  6. My stylist hates having to cut my hair. It's so unbelievably thick. My husband used to ask how I wasn't bald considering how much hair was in the drain. I've since gotten it chopped off into a pixie cut, and the insane hair loss as stopped now!

  7. What a great article. I used to have very thick hair and I never could let it air dry because it would be wet for 18 hours and unmanageable. I totally agree about the hotel hairdryer. My husband wonders why I take a hairdryer on a trip since they have one. Ha ha.

    1. Right? Air drying is POINTLESS. And seriously, what's up with those hotel hairdryers?

  8. YES! I get my hair thinned every few months. I have to! I can't do short hair cuts or I look like a cotton ball. Getting my hair colored or highlighted? Double the price cause it takes longer and uses more product. I shed ALL. Day. Long.

  10. I can relate, I have thick hair. Hair always in a bun, even wet!

    1. My only problem with putting wet hair in a bun or ponytail is that then it doesn't dry at all!

  12. My hair used to be super thick when I was younger (not quite so much anymore) but I am very guilty of clogging drains :/

  13. Heh! Heh! Yeah... But I would never allow my stylist to use thinning shears. I like my thick tresses. :D

    1. I wish I didn't have to use them! But without the thinning shears my hair is completely unruly.

  14. Hahaha I have to clean my drain every time I wash my hair and points #4 and #6 are EXACTLY me. I obsess about the hair I am losing and yet have the thickest hair in my family (except Dad who has individual hair strands as thick as wire). I wash my hair in the morning and it dries by bedtime, if I am lucky. And the frizz! Don't get me started.

  17. Me too!! I did find a great detangling comb. And I'm not even embarrassed that it's for dogs. Well, technically, it's for people, but they sell the exact same one for dogs for 1/3 of the price. It's amazing.
