For tonight I sleep on a bed of nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on a bed of roses
- "Bed of Roses" by Bon Jovi
It's basically impossible for me to look at the Deborah Lippmann Bed of Roses nail polish set without immediately thinking of the Bon Jovi song. But, even more than that, it was impossible for me to look at this collection and not immediately want to create an ombre manicure. So, I did just that!

The six colors in this nail polish collection are all in the pink and purple color family, so for me, it was amour at first sight. Deborah Lippmann wanted this set to satisfy your craving for rosy nudes and is calling them a new twist on nude, which I totally love. I obviously left one color out for this manicure, but only because I don't have six fingers on each hand! (Kudos if you're now thinking about the Six-Fingered Man from The Princess Bride.) I really love how these colors play together -- they flow into each other so well that they were just BEGGING for an ombre mani to take place.
|The five colors I chose for my ombre manicure.|
I decided upon the following five shades for my manicure:
Touch Me Tease Me (sheer soft pink)
A Trail Of Petals (blush pink)
Coming Up Roses (English rose)
The Look Of Love (deep rosy mauve)
Lay Lady Lay (plum rose)
The sixth shade in this collection is Life Is Rosy, which is a sheer vintage rose.

All six of the colors in this collection are opaque cremes. The formula is excellent -- the only one that gave me a bit of trouble was A Trail Of Petals, which had a bit of patchiness with the first coat but that worked itself out with the second coat. Overall they all applied like a dream, and even a few days later there's still no tipwear or chipping.

I would definitely wear all of these colors on their own, but I just HAD to wear them as an ombre manicure. It's like they begged me to from inside the packaging! They're perfect for spring, both for manicures and pedicures. I'll definitely be including all of them in my normal nail polish rotation!
What's on your nails right now? Let me know in the comments!
