First Look Fridays Interview Series: Beauty Blogger Jane Daly

I have to say, I'm kind of obsessed with beauty blogger Jane Daly of Daly Beauty. For starters, she's gorgeous -- I mean, look at that skin and hair! But she's also just crazy knowledgeable about all things beauty -- not to mention we have a shared love of Chanel nail polish, so you know she's all right in my book! Read on to find out how Jane got her start in beauty blogging, which serum she can't live without and so much more.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I grew up in Ottawa and raised two daughters there as well. They're 21 and 29 now and live in Toronto. My family is everything to me and I'm kind of obsessed with our little rescue cat. He has his own hashtag on Instagram -- send help! I absolutely love social media and interacting with the most talented, smart and funny women in the blogging community, readers and bloggers alike. There is an empowering energy that makes platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook the ideal place for talking and sharing. It's all about the beauty, entertainment, pop culture, social and political issues that effect us. It's eye opening and amazing.

How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to become a beauty blogger?
I've always loved beauty, especially perfume. I've worked in retail, promotion, and have even worked in product development. In 2010, someone suggested I start a beauty blog, so I did! My first post was about a beautiful Creed perfume and I haven't stopped since.

What are your top 5 beauty essentials?
Well, they constantly change. I'm either testing something new and promising or using something I read about and had to have. So currently...

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm. I use it as a precleanse. The soft, silky and buttery texture is incredible and nothing is left behind.

Roger & Gallet Aura Mirabilis Beauty Vinegar. The most incredible toner, with plant essences and fruit vinegar. I've never tried anything like it. Love!

Vichy Mineral 89 serum. Everyone needs this in their routine, it just drenches skin with goodness and an instant glow.

Aesara Sensitivity Anti-Aging Multi Corrector serum/oil. It saves my skin from hormonal imbalances and redness and makes skin full and glowy.

Sangre de Fruta Jasmin de Nuit Face Tonic. I can't stop misting my face and body with this! It's a sexy and sublime potion of jasmine and sandalwood that soothes and heals skin, leaving behind a gently fragranced radiance. Perfect pick up during the day, I can't stop!

What are your top 3 beauty tips?
1) Always always always wash your face before bedtime.

2) Spray your perfume in your belly button for long lasting yet subtle wafts throughout the day. Not at face level, it's never too strong for you or others, yet lingers beautifully.

3) Apply cuticle oil and gently push back your cuticles with every manicure. Thank me later.

Being a blogger must be fun, but what do you do in your spare time?
I've actually been working on a perfume of my own that I look forward to releasing soon! I love getting out and being with nature, love reading, and am currently trying to be better about yoga. Also, the cat (see above).

In addition to your blog, how can The Beauty of Life readers find you on social media?
You can follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
