(Almost) St. Patrick's Day Nail Art: Polka Dots With Essie and OPI!

I may be Jewish, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to have fun with my nails around St. Patrick's Day. (Side note: Did you know it's actually technically correct to write St. Paddy's Day, NOT St. Patty's Day? I just learned that at work this week.) Rather than just paint my nails green, I wanted to have a bit more fun -- so I decided on a polka dot manicure! My original idea was to give all of the nails a dark green base with lighter green polka dots, but my friend Melissa said it might look cooler to alternate -- and she was right!

After a long, LONG selection process with my collection of over 40 green nail polishes, I came to two conclusions:

1) Essie Navigate Her and OPI Jade Is The New Black were the clear winners.
2) I need more pale green nail polishes in my stash!

In any case, I absolutely love the way these two colors play together. I wanted both colors to be cremes, and I didn't want them to be too dark or too light -- but just right. And these two definitely are! I was planning on creating the dots with a bobby pin, since I didn't own a dotting tool ... but, lo and behold, I went to Ricky's last night and found a whole nail art kit, complete with dotting tool! The dotting tool definitely made placing the polka dots incredibly easy. I wanted each nail to be different, and there was really no rhyme or reason to the dots -- I just dotted wherever I saw fit!

I think the end result is fun, whimsical and perfect for St. Paddy's Day. And, yes, I know it's a little early, but I'm already in the spirit! Are you planning on doing anything fun on your nails for St. Patrick's Day? Let me know in the comments!
