(Almost) St. Patrick's Day Nail Art: Polka Dots With Essie and OPI!

I may be Jewish, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to have fun with my nails around St. Patrick's Day. (Side note: Did you know it's actually technically correct to write St. Paddy's Day, NOT St. Patty's Day? I just learned that at work this week.) We've been in love with cool, bold colors since the early 90's -- we used to trade them back and forth while sitting in our high school hallways before class. For the next 12 days, we'll be bringing you some of our favorites in what we're calling 12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors.

We've come to the end of our 12 day feature! I hope you've enjoyed reading about all of Katie's and my favorite nail polishes as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you. And now, without further adieu, here are our final two!

Jamie: OPI Tickle My France-Y tickled my inner nail polish lover as soon as I got it on my nails for the very first time. I was actually surprised that I loved this color as much as I did, since in the bottle it didn't look like much. But on the nails ... well, that's a different story altogether. It looks like just another basic nude, but depending on the light it can be mauve, pink, taupe, even lilac. I wore it to a black-tie wedding once and don't think I've ever received so many compliments on my nails, even when I've done crazy nail art! OPI Tickle My France-Y was originally released with the France Collection back in 2008, which is still one of my favorite nail polish collections to date -- mainly because of this polish which I've bought and re-bought and re-bought!

Katie: Sephora by OPI 212-Sephora is what I refer to as a junk polish. It's got a little bit of everything going on, which I usually consider to be a bad thing. Junk polishes frequently have some elements that only show up very few nails, or get stuck in the bottle and really just never show up. In summary: junk polishes = good in the bottle, cruddy on the nail. But 212-Sephora bucks that trend, because all of that awesomeness in the bottle? It all comes out to play on your nails! It has a semi-sheer, smoky grey base, and is loaded with gold microglitter, holographic silver glitter and reddish-copper flakies. This color was released by Sephora to represent the glamour and grit of New York City, and I totally agree. Just like the sometimes tarnished grandeur of the Big Apple, 212-Sephora is some truly glamorous "junk."

Jamie: My color today is Essie Lapiz of Luxury. I've actually seen this one referred to as both Lapiz of Luxury and Lapis of Luxury. Essie's site has the former, though, so I'll go with that! In any case, the color is stunning. It's a creamy, opaque cornflower blue with just a touch of a smoky undertone that makes it equally as perfect in summer as it does in winter. I've been a fan ever since I saw the first ad featuring it, and buying it wasn't so much an option as it was a necessity! I wear this gorgeous color every chance I get.

Katie: Today's color is OPI Catch Me In Your Net. This polish a complete and total glitter bomb. I love it most of all on my toes in a pair of flip-flops, preferably while sitting on the beach with a drink in my hand. In my mind, this is the color of mermaid tails. A deep teal foil glitter, it flashes gold and green in most lights, but absolutely glows in the sunlight. I need three coats to get this one opaque, and I've even heard of some people using four coats. I'm not patient enough for that, so I just apply it a little thicker than I might with another polish. But I promise, this one is definitely worth the wait. Like many glitters, it benefits greatly from a good top coat!
Note: OPI Catch Me In Your Net is tough to find, unless you're lucky enough to spot it in a beauty supply store or eBay.

Jamie: If I could only wear one grey nail polish for the rest of my life, Zoya Kelly would be it. This polish is just the perfect shade of dark, creamy charcoal with just the tiniest hint of purple undertone. It applies so easily and perfectly in two coats. Plus, it looks amazing on every skin tone! At a nail salon once, five of us in a row all had our nails done with this color -- all with very different skin tones, and it looked fantastic on every single one of us. It's just so chic and sophisticated, and I wear it every chance I get.

Katie: When I got a pedi with OPI Jade Is The New Black, I literally sat pulling my foot up to my face under a light so that I could check out this fabulous color up close. I couldn't stand it being so far away, so the next day I ran out and bought it so I could get it on my fingers and really enjoy it. This creamy jade green is in my top 5, and I find myself coming back to it over and over again. There is something about the shade that looks to me like green with some creamer in it. The formula on this one is a dream with two coats. I know I'm not the only one who loves this polish, and I highly recommend getting your hands on a bottle!

12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors from Jamie and Katie: Chanel Gold Fiction & OPI My Private Jet

We've been in love with cool, bold colors since the early 90's -- we used to trade them back and forth while sitting in our high school hallways before class. For the next 12 days, we'll be bringing you some of our favorites in what we're calling 12 Days of Favorite Nail Colors.

Jamie: I'm actually very willing to share nail polish, for the most part. I frequently let my friends go through my stash and paint their nails when they come over. But there's one exception to this, and its name is Chanel Facettes D'Or Gold Fiction. I hoard this one like my life depends on it! I was salivating over this limited-edition color when it came out in 2008. But at $30 a bottle, I wasn't so willing to fork over the cash ... until it sold out, and then, of course, I wanted it more than ever. Well, color me beyond happy when I was at the Chanel counter in Bergdorf Goodman and, lo and behold, they had ONE BOTTLE LEFT. I immediately snagged it and have been ecstatic ever since. This nail polish is like liquid gold -- it flows effortlessly from the bottle onto the nail, leaving behind a gorgeous yellow gold hue that's opaque with minimal brush marks (very rare for a metallic polish). And, while some people weren't fans of the different opaque Chanel bottle, since they couldn't see how much was left, I just love it. This is one of those colors I break out time and time again for special occasions, and it always garners compliments. But, most of all, I just feel like a princess when I wear it.
Note: Unfortunately, Chanel Gold Fiction was a limited edition color and is no longer available.

Katie: OPI My Private Jet. I don't really think I can pick a FAVORITE favorite polish, but if forced to, I think this might be it. I know there is a load of controversy surrounding it, given that it seems OPI has messed with the color and formula a few times. I can't tell you which version I have, but I can tell you that I love it. Here is how I describe this shade. It's black -- but not really. It's brown -- but not really. It's grey -- but not really. It's a crazy multi-colored holo glitter -- but not really. And that is why I love My Private Jet. It is the ultimate chameleon. When I don't know quite which polish to wear in any given situation, I always find myself coming back to My Private Jet. I used two coats for this picture.
