Salon and Spa Directory: Massage Heights

Massage Heights, Massage Heights introductory massage, salon, spa, salon and spa directory, massage, relieve tension, relieve stress, Pittsburgh spa
Truth be told, I've always been a bit wary of what I like to think of as massage factories. You know the ones -- the chain massage places that just seem simultaneously a bit sketchy and too good to be true. Well, am I ever glad I decided to throw caution to the wind and give Massage Heights in Pittsburgh's Bakery Square a try!

While I'm loving everything about Pittsburgh so far, the one thing I think the city is lacking is spa and salon availability on Sundays. Maybe I just got spoiled from all my years in New York with everything being totally accessible wherever and whenever I wanted it, but I just think it's strange for basically every salon and spa in Pittsburgh to be closed on Sundays. Enter Massage Heights, who's open 7 days a week and is ready to melt every inch of your tension and stress away.

Even better? I was able to snag a 60-minute massage at Massage Heights the day I called! Moving has definitely caused a lot of tension in my back and shoulders, so I went in last Sunday afternoon -- braving a snowstorm, mind you -- just to see what the spa was all about. I was immediately put at ease by the two receptionists, who were both exceedingly friendly and helpful. Plus, they greeted all the regulars coming in by name, which I thought was a nice touch.

My massage was everything I wanted it to be. The rooms are spacious and luxurious with heated beds (always my favorite part of a massage). Using rich cream (so much better than greasy oil), my therapist kneaded all the tension out of my back and shoulders throughout the hour, leaving me feeling relaxed and ready to take on the unpacking of all the boxes piling up in my new apartment!

The one caveat to this experience was the upselling at the end. Both my massage therapist and the receptionist tried to get me to purchase the monthly membership, and they were both working pretty hard to try and make me spend the money. While I do think $59 per month is a pretty good deal, I don't want to feel like I'm being forced into buying that. I just politely declined and went about my merry (and still fairly relaxed) way.

Whether or not I decide to invest in the monthly membership, I would definitely visit Massage Heights again. For a chain, it does not disappoint!

The introductory price for a 60-minute massage at Massage Heights is $49. For more information about the services offered and to find a location in your area, visit massageheights.com.

  1. Jamie, I'm glad you enjoyed and I am glad that you decided to visit us again. After today, I hope that you see that its not about the membership, its just about doing what's best for our guests. I took a pretty big hit today, but it was what's right for YOU. And if I can help you save money, why not? From a business standpoint, I would of benefited more from the full price today, but I wouldn't feel very good about myself and that is not what we represent. However I can help our guests feel better, I will do it. See you soon!!! ~ Erica
