Throwback Thursday: My First Massage Experience

Do you remember the exact time, date and location of your first massage? Well, I do. The date was August 25, 2005. The time was around 3pm. And the location was John Robert's Spa in Cleveland, Ohio.

Why do I remember this massage so vividly, you may ask? Only because it was not only my very first, but to this day, my very BEST. Until this day, I hadn't really thought massages were something I'd like. Have a stranger touch me? No thanks. Well, how quickly my opinion changed once I had the opportunity to lie on the massage table at John Robert's.

My massage was only 30 minutes long -- which, today, sounds like such a short amount of time. These days, SIXTY minutes seems short! But at the time, 30 minutes were all I needed to fall fast asleep and awake in a haze of bliss. That picture above? It's one my friend Lisa snapped once I emerged from the massage table. I really don't think I've ever looked that relaxed before or since!

I'm so thankful that my girlfriends and I decided to go to the spa for my best friend Katie's bachelorette party that day (she married the love of her life that weekend and they're now the parents of my very favorite child in the world, Walter!). If we hadn't, who knows whether my love of massages would have begun?
