With a mop of Shirley Temple curls. This was during one of my infamous "naps." (Sorry, Mom.) |
Well, some people might not like their curls, but I LOVED mine. I've always thought a full head of curls was just utterly gorgeous. It might have been hard for my parents to wrangle my hair into ponytails or braids back in the day, but I never knew about it.
Sadly, my curls seemed to just disappear after my days as a toddler. All of a sudden, my hair was some sort of strange curly/wavy/straight combination. I've struggled with it in the years since, although now that it's (finally) long, it seems to have worked out the kinks -- AND even gets curly sometimes! (Sleeping on it soaking wet or braiding it helps.) Plus, I'm pretty sure that my days as a curly-headed toddler created my need for curly, bouncy blowouts. Pretty much every time I head to the salon for a blowout, I ask for it to be either stick straight or full of voluminous curls (usually the latter).
Just one example of my curly blowout obsession. This (awesome, amazing, fabulous) one was done at Glam Salon in Pittsburgh. |
Do you wish your hair was still the same as when you were a kid? Or is there another beauty throwback you wish still existed in your life? Let me know in the comments!
you were so adorable love that picture
ReplyDeleteMy hair has gotten a little more wavy as I've gotten older but like the kind of waves that are awkward and so it looks odd to wear it natural (like kinky shapeless waves, sort of.) My sister got lucky and used to have stick-straight hair and now has super curly hair!
ReplyDeleteMy hair looked exactly the same as yours when I was a child, however my curls stuck around. I have a love/hate relationship with my curls, but I don't know if I'd ever trade them for straight hair.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I had curls until my first hair cut. All straight from there lol
ReplyDeleteMy hair only got curly when I was 12 or 13 - hormones, I guess!
ReplyDeleteI have naturally curly hair, and have had it since I was a baby! When I was younger my curls were a LOT tighter. I also used to wish I had straight hair but now I am totally grateful for my hair because it sets me apart from everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI have always had flat straight hair.
ReplyDeleteI had hair that was straight as a stick. When I was 29, I got divorced, and guess what, my hair turned curly. Not that beautiful curly, you know, those girls you see walking down the street and say, wow I wish I had that hair. No, it is the LOTS of product kind of curly hair! It isn't all that its cracked up to be. They say you always wish you had the opposite of what you have. I have had them both. I dont know, it is 50/50.
