Throwback Thursday: Getting Touristy on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (And a Favorite Fashion Moment)

Having a super touristy moment on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hi, Annette!
You know those outfits that you put together that just really stand out to you, even years later? And maybe they were something special and maybe they weren't, but for whatever reason, you just LOVED the fashion moment you created? Well, that's how I feel about the outfit above.

Back in 2006, I visited a couple of my friends in Los Angeles. And one of the sights I just HAD to see was the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Now, yes, I knew even then how touristy it was -- but, come on, who goes to L.A. for the first time and DOESN'T check out the stars? So off we went, with me planning my perfect outfit in advance, of course.

Now, I know this outfit may not look like much. It's just a flowy tank top, jeans, sunglasses and a crocheted bag. But I LOVED this outfit. I just felt SO West Coast cool in it, you know? Even though this was so long ago, I even still remember every single item I was wearing...

Polo Jeans Co. flowy tank
Gap Low-Rise Bootcut Jeans (this was my all-time favorite fit from Gap and, sadly, it's no longer available)
RALPH Ralph Lauren sunglasses (I have no idea what happened to these, but they were my first pair of designer sunglasses and I was seriously so in love with them)
Target crocheted bag (this bag cost me $10 and I was so happy to find it -- it just screamed West Coast to me at the time)
H&M black trench coat (folded under my arm -- I bought this coat right after I moved to NYC in 2002 and it lasted almost 10 years!)

So, as you can see, it's not like these pieces cost a lot of money or even like they were the most fashionable pieces on the block, although I do still really stand behind this outfit. But I just felt so good when I put them all together, and they helped me have such a fabulous day wandering the Walk of Fame. (The photo of me with Annette Funicello's star, above, was pretty special, since I've always loved her.)

And I still wish I knew what happened to those sunglasses.
