Just look at that girl in the advertisement above. Who WOULDN'T want to look like her? Gorgeous full curly hair, perfectly glossed pouty lips, not a wrinkle in sight, even a cute teddy bear and what's obviously an adorable eyelet nightgown. I just wanted to BE that girl. (Admittedly, the ad above is from before I was born, although I knew about it anyway. I am nothing if not a well researched beauty chick.)

This was the Love's Baby Soft ad in many of my editions of Seventeen growing up. Who wouldn't want that dreamboat to think she was baby soft? |
So I pretty much bought Love's Baby Soft in bulk. And, I'm not sure if you remember, but THIS. PERFUME. SMELLED. TERRIBLE. I was always partial to the original scent, which smelled like super sweet baby powder. Not something you actually should want to put on yourself, but I couldn't get enough. I just felt SO grownup every time I rubbed it on. I was willing to smell terrible just for the slight possibility that I really would be baby soft.
I grew out of my Baby Soft obsession by junior high and moved onto better smelling fragrances. But a part of me will always love Love's Baby Soft.
Oh, and if you want to hearken back to the 80's? Love's Baby Soft is available for $12.50 at drugstore.com.
