Throwback Thursday: The Height of 00's Fashion and Beauty

Throwback Thursday, #tbt, the height of 00's fashion and beauty, 2000's fashion, 2000's beauty, pixie cut, elbow-length shirt, patterned bell bottoms, blow up furniture
One of the good things about staying at my mom's while my ankle heals is the opportunity to go through all my old photos. Well, I discovered this one, and it sure is a gem. This was me in 2001, taken in my dorm room right after my 21st birthday, and I'd say it perfectly represents the height of 00's fashion and beauty. I mean, just look at everything going on here...

1) Paint your nails with base coat. Allow to dry.
2) Shake the spray can well.
3) Hold the spray can 6 inches away from your nails and spray to your heart's content. Allow to dry.
4) Apply top coat. Allow to dry.
5) Using soapy water, rinse the excess polish from your hands and cuticles.

This week's #ManiMonday is a bit different, which I'm sure you can see! I'm kind of obsessed with Living Royal socks because every single pattern is just so gosh darned adorable and fun. But when I discovered that they had Nail Polish Crew Socks? I ordered them IMMEDIATELY.

I can't even tell you what a momentous day this is. IT IS MY FIRST MANICURE POST ACCIDENT. It was seriously killing me inside to have the same manicure for three weeks, but 1) I didn't have any other nail polish, and 2) I really couldn't even bring myself to do my nails after what happened. And then something changed. One of my fabulous coworkers sent me Essie Pool Side Service as a get well present, and I was ready to get back in the polishing game!

I'm back! Finally! I still don't know how often I'll be posting, because to be quite honest, my ankle surgery was a lot more invasive than I originally thought it would be. It's taken a lot out of me and I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things, especially since I'm currently on bed rest at my mom's house in Cleveland instead of back in my apartment in Los Angeles. But I'm doing my best to continue to update The Beauty of Life and I definitely appreciate you all sticking with me while I (quite literally) get back on my feet. Let's kick things off with this glorious addition to On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Dial Silk & Magnolia Restoring Body Wash.

My Hospital Beauty Essentials

I broke my ankle last Friday. I was visiting some friends in Pittsburgh, slipped on some ice and down I went. And I don't mean just any break. I broke the tibia and the fibula AND managed to fracture a whole bunch of other important stuff. I've been on bed rest in the hospital ever since, and let me tell you -- it changes things. I'm not someone who ever asks for help, and I don't require much care. I'm extremely independent. So having to rely on other people for everything definitely puts life in very different perspective. Luckily I have excellent care and I'm preparing for surgery #2 on Monday. In the meantime, I've culled my beauty essentials to an eye-popping six products! Check out what's getting me through the long days in the hospital.
