As I've made everyone well aware by this point, I have a broken ankle. And not only that, but I can't put any weight on that leg for two more months. I'm recuperating at my mom's in Cleveland and thought I'd keep my spirits up by trying out some new nail polishes! Thus I bring you my new series: Nailing the Broken Ankle One Polish at a Time. Up first: a manicure featuring Nailing Hollywood Shade and Unicorn nail polishes.

I've honestly been obsessed with Nailing Hollywood since I attended the launch event for the line back in October. (Read all about my experience -- including FINALLY getting to meet the uber-fabulous Jenna Hipp! -- here.) Of course, all of my bottles are back in Los Angeles, waiting patiently for my return. The gals from Erin Kelly PR were sweet enough to send me a few here in Cleveland, though, and thus this manicure came to be!

Seriously, every single color in the Nailing Hollywood line is TO. DIE. FOR. They're all rich, bold, colorful, unique ... it's incredibly hard to pick a favorite because there are just too many to choose from. But Nailing Hollywood Shade and Nailing Hollywood Unicorn are definitely at the top of my list.

Nailing Hollywood Shade. Such a gorgeous mauve.

Shade is a beautiful pale mauve. It's one of those colors that just begs to be worn year round -- it's chic and elegant with just enough punch to really stand out. I was going to wear it on its own, but then the holographic glittery goodness of Unicorn caught my eye and I just had to jazz up a few nails on each hand with it.

Nailing Hollywood Unicorn. Look at those multidimensional holographic glitter flakes!

Unicorn is a topper that contains flakies and iridescent, multidimensional glitters in pink and blue. To say it put a smile on my face is an understatement!

I really love the way these two colors look together. Shade is understated while Unicorn is obviously not. They complement each other so well and just make me keep looking down at my hands in admiration and glee.

The quality of these polishes is really fantastic. They just glide on so effortlessly. There was no streaking or dragging, and the polish is thin enough to be buildable without filling you with annoyance about having to keep painting the same area over and over. I found that Shade was almost completely opaque in one coat, although I used two for full opacity. And Unicorn provided that much gorgeous glitter in only one coat! They're both also so glossy that top coat isn't even really needed, although of course I used one to help seal in the color. I actually used Nailing Hollywood Quick Dry Top Coat -- stay tuned for a review on that soon!

Honestly, right now it's the little things that keep me going and make me smile -- and this manicure is totally doing it for me. So, cheers, Nailing Hollywood -- Shade and Unicorn are receiving a one-legged standing ovation from me this week!

Nailing Hollywood nail polishes retail for $9.99 each at beauty.com.

  3. I don't think I was aware of this brand and now I want it. I felt like I was the only one in the world who was non-weight bearing for 3 months when I broke my knee. I'm sorry you are going through this.

  5. That is BEAUTIFUL! So happy to see you still posting. When I was 18 I shattered my right heel and embedded my tibia into my ankle, so I know how bored and helpless the feeling is - but you have been so amazing through this! So glad you are still posting!
