Having Hope, Even When All Seems Lost

2016 Presidential Election, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, president, somber, black
I had a truly fabulous On Wednesdays We Wear Pink post to share with you today. But, in light of what happened in our country last night, I am saving it. I just didn't feel right posting something frivolous today.

I did not think I lived in a country or a time where this election outcome was possible. As a Jew, as a woman, as a person with more gay friends than straight ones, as a HUMAN. I'm disheartened and disgusted by the state of affairs in America. But, at the same time, I have to believe we can come through this and stay strong in the face of adversity. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes. Please read the ever poignant words of Anne Frank -- who, more than ever, it seems, really knew how to express what many of us are feeling today.

"In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too. I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too shall end, and that peace and tranquility will return again."

  1. Sadly it's a perfect post for today. It's hard to imagine what the future holds with this type of person in charge.

  7. I hear you, I'm still a little in denial. I just hope that, for all our sakes, this isn't the end of the world.

  8. I'm surprised, but not just with the election. I'm more surprised with all the hate I'm seeing from both sides and friends being torn apart :(

  9. Thank you for this. It's been a rough week. I had problems being able to post. My emotions got the better of me. I still find myself randomly crying. We are still stronger together. <3
