Maximum Impact: Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care Max Complexion Correction Pads

So, I don't know about you, but when I'm stressed out? My skin goes C R A Z Y. We're talking breakouts everywhere, undue redness, all sorts of general messiness I just CANNOT get behind. So when I discovered the Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care Max Complexion Correction Pads, I was immediately on board to put them through some rigorous testing.

For starters, the scent is peach bellini. Let me repeat that. The scent of these pads is PEACH BELLINI. The peach bellini is only one of my favorite brunch cocktails, so I definitely wanted to see whether these pads actually smelled like bellinis or had the typical medicinal acne pad scent. I'm happy to report that the scent is much more on the peach bellini side of things -- it's still a bit strong, thanks to the acne-fighting properties found in each pad, but definitely way less medicinal than other acne pads I've tried.

Scent aside, what I really wanted to know about these pads was ... would they WORK? The area around my mouth and chin has been breaking out consistently for the past two months. Blame a new job -- which I love, but still, it's stressful getting up to speed when you first start something -- and, what I think was contributing even more, the end of a relationship. I've also been noticing a lot of tinier whiteheads on my forehead. Speaking as someone who basically never breaks out and prides herself on clear skin, this was all extremely troubling.

So, I started using one pad nightly. Each pad is formulated with a mix of alpha hydroxy acid (glycolic acid 10%), beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid 2%) and alcohol (46%) to cleanse the skin, clear active blemishes, minimize pores, eliminate the formation of new blackheads and support natural cell turnover. I like that each pad also contains the formula on both sides, so you get double the amount of acne-fighting goodness!

And there's the best part. THESE. PADS. WORK. And I mean basically immediately. Within two days, I noticed significant clearing up of the blemishes around my mouth and chin (especially a stubborn clump of tiny pimples that hadn't budged in almost three weeks). Redness was drastically reduced, the tinier pustules on my forehead disappeared overnight, and even the pores on my nose -- typically covered in blackheads -- were clearer.

I've now been using these pads religiously for about three weeks. I use one every night after I cleanse and before I put on moisturizer. And I have to say I am thrilled with the results. While some of the more stubborn blemishes still haven't disappeared completely, they're definitely on their way out. I feel way better about my skin's overall appearance thanks to these pads. Frankly, I can't imagine my life without them!

The Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care Max Complexion Correction Pads are $40 for a pack of 60 at sephora.com.

  2. These sound fantastic! I am a huge fan of exfoliating pads, but have never tried these! On the list these go, but it will be a while before I actually need to buy any since I still have quite a few jars from various brands!
