Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
I’m from a little, remote island called Australia. I was born and raised in Australia’s most populated city, Sydney, and spent most of my life in the popular eastern suburbs (home to Bondi Beach!). I recently relocated to the second most populated city, Melbourne.
How did you first become interested in beauty, and what led you to create your own blog?
I’m pretty sure I was born interested in beauty. At just 3 years of age I insisted my daycare put in a “Makeup Corner” because dress-ups weren’t fulfilling enough without the makeup. I also hate sand so there was no way I was going to play in the sandbox (ewwww!). The rest of my life was just a tumbleweed of beauty experiences ranging from working in a hairdressing salon at 15 years old through to today.
I love the name of your blog! How did you come up with it?
My blog started when I was researching rhinoplasty. I had wanted a nose job ever since I saw my own reflection for the first time. My research only turned up typical testimonials from “ex patients” of the doctors i was interested in, and all the information about how patients feel after the procedure was in medical terms. There were no real accounts from people who had been through it and documented their experience so I decided I would just have to be the first. I started The Plastic Diaries (a diary of my plastic surgery experience) and recorded everything I could about the lead up, the surgery, the recovery and the aftermath. I figured when someone else tries to do the same research in the future they will at least have one resource to give them a personal account.
After taking a break I returned to blogging to apply the same original format but expand it to all beauty avenues. I wanted to record my experiences with beauty products and treatments because I had always found when I looked good on the outside, I felt good on the inside so why not help other women to do the same.
What are your top 5 favorite beauty products?
My favorite beauty products are sunscreen, lipstick, individual false lashes, brow powder and eyeliner.
What are your top 3 beauty tips?
1) Sleep on a satin pillowcase to avoid wrinkles.
2) Don’t line your lower lash line without lining your upper lash line.
3) Use a pat and press motion when applying serums and lotions to your face.
Being a blogger must be fun, but what do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? I don’t have much of that. I work from home so it’s easy to fall into the trap of working every minute of the day, but I love it and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I spend any little time I do have with my rescue babies (5 dogs currently) and trying to promote animal welfare.
In addition to your blog, how can The Beauty of Life readers find you on social media?
You can find me on Pinterest, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
