My Latest Mani: Essie Rock The Boat from the Naughty Nautical Collection

I love blue. I love shimmer. So is it any wonder I love Essie Rock The Boat?

This nail polish is one of Essie's newest shades, found in the Naughty Nautical Collection for Summer 2013. It immediately stood out to me because of the greyish blue hue and the subtle subtle glass-flecked shimmer. The shimmer is so subtle that it's basically non-existent in low light, but in the sun ... watch out, it may blind you!

In all seriousness, I'm totally loving this shade. Two coats yielded even, perfect color with no streaks. And even though I applied it right before bedtime (as in, 10 minutes before I turned the light off and went to sleep), I woke up with no sheet marks! While Essie has put out some other pale blues in the past, this is the first one with shimmer -- and it's definitely going in my permanent collection.

Essie Rock The Boat retails for $8 at beauty.com.

What's on your nails right now? Let me know in the comments!

Loyal readers will already know that I'm a body wash fiend. At any given time, I've got about 15-20 shower gels and body washes lined up in my shower just waiting for their turn to be tried, used and loved. For the last month, most of them have been sitting there unused, because I've been pitting the Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash with Shea Butter against the Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash.

Those who know me know I love to spa. I could be content going to the spa every day, if I had the funds available! Sadly, I need to restrict my massages, facials and body treatments to once a month at most. If you're on a budget right now, or you just want a way to create a more zen-like atmosphere in your own home, then why not create your own at-home spa day? I've come up with a fool-proof way for you to pamper yourself from head to toe using some very fabulous products from Neutrogena.

The Top 3 CC Creams to Correct Your Skin Tone

Post a comment!

By now you’ve heard of the CC cream craze. Should you trade in your favorite BB cream for the next newest thing in cosmetics? That depends on your skincare needs. BB creams address anti-aging concerns and provide a flawless, illuminating glow. I think of them as power-packed tinted moisturizers. CC creams, on the other hand, correct dark spots and fix skin tone problems on a cellular level so your skin actually improves over time. Personally, I prefer the hydration and coverage of BB creams, but since I’m on a quest to eliminate my acne scars, CC creams are my answer. Here are the top 3 CC creams I'm keeping in my makeup bag.

Bonkers for Blueberry: Whish Blueberry Shave Crave Shaving Creme

I can't help it -- I always think of Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when I think about blueberries. But in the case of Whish Blueberry Shave Crave Shaving Creme, that's actually the furthest thing from my mind -- because it smells so delicious and performs so well, a giant blueberry girl doesn't even factor into the equation.

To be frank, I normally don't even use a shaving cream or shave gel -- I'm just a soap and water kind of girl. But I've been making an exception for this one, because it smells absolutely divine and it makes the razor just glide over my skin so smoothly. No nicks, no cuts, no gashes -- just a soft expanse that somehow stays that way for hours afterward!

I didn't even know this glorious product existed until a sample size wound up in my Birchbox last month, but I'll definitely be stocking up for the future.

Whish Blueberry Shave Crave Shaving Creme retails for $20 at birchbox.com.

Here's the thing. I really hate taking long showers. It just feels like a waste of time to me. Yes, there's the odd time where I like to just stand in the shower and let the hot water run over me for awhile, but for the most part? I get in and get out as quickly as humanly possible. So when I discovered LAVANILA The Healthy Body Wash 2-In-1 Shower & Shave in Vanilla Grapefruit (say that name three times fast), I was immediately intrigued.

The more years that go by, the more convinced I become that sun protection is of the utmost importance. I suppose I'm lucky that I'm extremely pale and can't go in the sun without applying SPF 50 (and, even then, I still burn to a crisp within 30 minutes). But I am constantly encouraging others to wear sunscreen, stop lying in tanning beds, you name it. Luckily, Neutrogena and board certified dermatologist Dr. Doris Day are here to help clear up some myths and provide facts about sun protection.
