This weekend, I'm off to the Berkshires for a Core Fusion retreat at the Kripalu Center. I'm going with the fantastic Keri Blair, and I needed something fun on my nails to get me through all the long, arduous workouts ahead! There was nothing better than Essie Neo Whimsical. Now, you may remember my last foray into the fabulousness that is this amazing color. (In case you've forgotten, here's a look back.) In any case, I have been desperately hunting down this nail polish ever since my manicure at Eve last month, to no avail. Imagine my surprise and delight when it appeared at a Duane Reade during a shopping trip this week! I immediately squealed, screamed and snatched it up.
In sunlight with no flash
In sunlight with no flash and the wonderful city of New York behind me
Please pardon the semi-shoddy job I did on my nails! I painted them at my desk this morning in anticipation of my trip.

Rescue Your Skin: Eve Lom Rescue Mask
BubbleLicious: R.J. Graziano Clear Lucite Bubble Necklace
At an event held by Robert Verdi's Luxe Lab awhile back, I was gifted with the beautiful R.J. Graziano Clear Lucite Bubble Necklace. I was immediately drawn to this necklace for the following reasons:
1) I've been coveting R.J. Graziano jewelry for years, and this was my first acquisition.
2) Lucite is the season's biggest jewelry trend, and I was ecstatic to finally get my hands on a stunning, original piece.
3) The oversized clear bubbles reminded me of marbles -- and, while I was never good at playing with marbles as a kid, it did bring me right back to my childhood.
Now, a word to the wise. This necklace is HEAVY. I'm talking many, many pounds (I haven't weighed it, but I'd venture a guess of at least 5 pounds). It will weigh down your neck throughout the day. (Not smart to wear the day after an intense workout -- take my word for it.) But...
This necklace WILL get you noticed. Every time I slip it around my neck, I get compliments all day long. From strangers on the street to coworkers to friends, people can't get enough! And I'll let you in on a little secret -- I can't, either.
The R.J. Graziano Clear Lucite Bubble Necklace retails for $75.

My Love of All Things Tocca Continues: Tocca Montauk Candle
Let me be the one you run to
Let me be the one you come to
When you need someone to turn to
Let me be the one
--The Carpenters, Let Me Be The One
I have a long, steamy and torrid affair with Tocca candles. While Cleopatra is my all-time favorite scent, I’ve dabbled in almost every one at some point in my life. So it came as a surprise to me that the Montauk Candle had escaped me for so long. Luckily, I finally started burning this glorious candle -- and I’ve been left anything but disappointed.
Inspired by the easternmost tip of Long Island, where the Sound meets the sea, Montauk contains notes of sea grass and fresh air, creating a scent that’s at once refreshing and calming. I’ve been burning this candle for the past two weeks, and I honestly think it’s helping to keep me sane in times of undue stress.
The Tocca Montauk Candle (10.6 oz.) has a burn time of 60 hours and retails for $38 at spacenk.com.
Mani of the Week: Essie Nail Polish in Lilacism
I'm trying to summon warmer temperatures this week with my manicure choice -- Essie Lilacism, part of the Spring 2010 Collection. This creamy lilac polish makes me think of 75-degree weather, sitting at an outdoor cafe with a margarita and some friendly conversation. Hopefully this color will make it happen!
My one caveat with the polish -- it really did take two coats. The first was pretty streaky and left too much of the natural nail showing, so I really needed a second coat to make sure the streaks disappeared. I topped it with Deborah Lippmann Addicted To Speed Top Coat -- it's my first time using this particular top coat, so I'll be interested to see how the polish wears over the week without my normal Seche Vite.

Over Pinkberry a few weeks ago (one of our shared obsessions), she sat down with me to share how she got started in the makeup business, some of her favorite products and where she gets her inspiration. Introducing a New Feature: What's Your Beauty Indulgence?
In the coming weeks, you can expect to see a new feature here at The Beauty of Life! What's Your Beauty Indulgence? will give you an inside look into the products that my fellow industry insiders (think bloggers, makeup artists, manicurists, hairstylists and the like) hold in highest regard. Be it a moisturizer or a lipgloss, a styling tool or a candle, these products aren't to be missed.
And of course, what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't share MY biggest indulgence with all of you? You may already know this -- or maybe it's news to you -- but I am O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour. At last count, I possessed 30 bottles -- from limited-editions like my very favorite Gold Fiction to staples like Shanghai Red. I've purchased them everywhere from London and Paris to the Chanel counter at Bergdorf Goodman, and most recently bought the three colors from the Summer 2010 collection at the Chanel store in Las Vegas. Every single color is a pride and joy that is displayed in extreme visibility atop my dressing table. (Truth be told, I'm running out of room!)
Check back soon to see the next installment of What's Your Beauty Indulgence?.
An Insider's Look: Makeup Artist Diane Aiello
I've been following makeup artist Diane Aiello on Twitter for quite some time. I love seeing what she's up to in the makeup world! So of course I was thrilled to have the choice to feature her on The Beauty of Life. Read on to discover the makeup artist who inspired her, the foundation she can't live without and so much more.
Get the Goop: Supergoop! SPF 30+ Everyday UV Face & Body Moisturizing Sun Protection Lotion
It takes a LOT for me to like a sunscreen. It basically has to move mountains before I'll even consider telling you about it. When I first heard about Supergoop! SPF 30+ Everyday UV Face & Body Moisturizing Sun Protection Lotion, I was a bit skeptical. Anything with the word "goop" in the name just has to be utterly thick and messy, right? WRONG.
This sunscreen is so lightweight and non-greasy, I really couldn't believe my eyes. It sinks into skin immediately upon contact without leaving behind any film or residue -- plus it lasts for hours! (Case in point: I wore it to a sunny Yankees game and didn't burn at all after over 4 hours!)
Best of all, it's sweat-and-water-resistant -- so you can swim and run without any fear of it streaking or sliding off your face.
Supergoop! SPF 30+ Everyday UV Face & Body Moisturizing Sun Protection Lotion comes in two different varieties. The 1.6 oz. bottle is $14. A set of 17 .33 oz. singles is $38.

Obsession of the Moment: Agent Provocateur Swimwear
One of my favorite lingerie brands, Agent Provocateur, has just launched a new swimwear collection -- and it's HOT! I'm totally in love with each and every piece, like the Tatum Swimsuit (above, $330). Check them all out after the jump.
Amylee Bikini (Top: $180, Bottom: $110): A print inspired by passport stamps lends international flair to this baby pink bikini.
Portia Bikini (Top: $180, Bottom: $110): The combination of gleaming metallic silver and an exotic snake print could create something trashtastic -- but in the case of this bikini, it's uber-glam.
Portia Swimsuit ($330): I love the silhouette of this strapless, snake-print metallic swimsuit -- it's sexy without being over the top.
Candy Bikini (Top: $180, Bottom: $110): How adorably 1950's is this polka-dotted bikini? I'm so enamored of the eyelet-ruffle trim and little red bows.
Risa Bikini (Top: $180, Bottom: $110): The sporty feel of this bikini -- not to mention the menswear-themed hiphugger bikini briefs -- is just so refreshingly chic.
First Look Fridays: Manicurist Erica Marton

The Beauty Chick Takes a Drinking Hiatus
I decided to forgo drinking this month. Not that I drink all that much, mind you -- usually just a glass or two, if that. But as my migraines have been acting up recently, I thought it would be nice to do a little experiment and see whether a glass of wine or a bottle of beer here and there contributes at all. So far, it's been about 10 days with no change -- but I'm staying strong!
But here's what I've come to realize. Most people really don't understand this decision. At every event, I have to beg for a glass of water or a Diet Coke as I'm having wine or champagne shoved down my throat. "Are you sure you don't want a glass of wine?" I hear as the person looks on in utter disbelief. "Yes, really," I reply. "Just bring me a glass of water, please." It's as if they've never contemplated the fact that drinking alcohol might not be part of someone's plan -- and that just makes me feel sad.
So, anyway, I'm going to be alcohol-free for 30 days. Here's hoping my migraines start to diminish!

Fabulous New Haircolor, Thanks to Christie at Kim Vo Salon!
While I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Kim Vo Salon at the Mirage. Yes, the Kim Vo of Shear Genius judging fame! (Not to mention he's the genius behind basically every celebrity's fabulous color.) In any case, Kim and I have been corresponding on Twitter, and he invited me into the salon for a little fun.
Mani of the Week: Essie Neo Whimsical
This week, I (gasp!) got my nails done. I know, I know -- usually I do them myself -- but I had a gift card for a manicure and pedicure at Eve Salon, so who was I not to use it? (Side note: Tatyana is an AMAZING nail technician.) In any case, I'm so excited about my Mani of the Week.
I went for Essie Neo Whimsical, a pale rose-plum shade from the Spring 2010 collection that literally changes color based on the light. Sometimes it's pink, sometimes it's lavender, but it's always, always gorgeous. Check out more photos after the jump.

Splash Yourself: Marc Jacobs Splash in Pomegranate
Looking for the perfect lightweight summer fragrance? Look no further than Marc Jacobs Splash in Pomegranate.
This delightful scent is inspired by the simple but decadent pleasure of a Parisian patisserie -- which means that for me, it was love at first sniff. (Because, let's be honest -- who doesn't love a French bakery filled with delicious croissants and eclairs?)
Pomegranates have long been beguiling to me. As a child in Hebrew school, I looked forward to the Jewish holiday of Shavuot -- because we got to eat pomegranates! (The holiday celebrates the bounty of the harvest and the first fruits of the season, and pomegranates are very important in Judaism.) The fact that we only ate the seeds always intrigued me. So of course the fact that this latest creation in the Splash family is Pomegranate immediately sold me. A combination of mandarin flowers, bergamot, rhubarb and sugared musk lends it a sensual, flirty feel.
Marc Jacobs Splash in Pomegranate retails for $68.

Mani of the Week: Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Nouvelle Vague
This week I am super-excited about my Mani of the Week -- because it's my ultra-brand-spanking-new-just-brought-it-back-from-the-Chanel-store-in-Las-Vegas bottle of Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Nouvelle Vague.
I'm totally dying over the shimmery teal blue hue. It's got enough green to remind me of the grass in springtime and enough blue to bring back memories of the aquamarine waters in Hawaii.I used two coats and found the application to be fairly smooth. The first coat was a bit streaky, but my coat two the polish had found its stride and applied very evenly. I've actually heard people compare this shade to China Glaze For Audrey, but that seems much more turquoise -- like the color of a Tiffany's box -- while this has more seafoam green in the base.
And for those who are interested -- I began with a coat of Chanel Protective Base Coat and finished with a coat of my all-time favorite top coat, Seche Vite. I really think this helped to lock in the glossy shine.Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Nouvelle Vague retails for $23.

Obsession of the Moment: Gorjana Roosevelt Eternity Ring
I have an obsession with cocktail rings. Not an unhealthy obsession, mind you -- I just really, really, really like them. So when I came across the Gorjana Roosevelt Eternity Ring, my heart skipped a beat. I love the interlocking stacked gold circles -- the design is so intricate and unique. This ring is going in my shopping cart and on my finger immediately!
The Gorjana Roosevelt Eternity Ring retails for $65.
Beauty Question: Would You Apply a Face Mask at the Gym?
Sometimes I think people take gym behavior a bit too far. Case in point: applying a face mask in the locker room. Some people may not take offense, but I feel this is behavior better left for the comfort of your own home.
What do you think? Would you apply a face mask at the gym? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2010 Preview
Last week I had the pleasure of attending a press preview at the Rebecca Minkoff showroom. If you know anything about me, you know I live and die for Rebecca Minkoff. I can name each and every bag in the line -- complete with collection names -- and can pick them out from a mile away. (Truth be told, I listed out at least 10 bags I simply have to own when talking about the line with my mom recently. She thought it was hilarious.)
With that being said, of course I'm thrilled and delighted to bring you an up close and personal look at the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2010 Collection! Check out tons of photos of covetable handbags, jewelry and even her clothing line after the jump.

M.A.C Art Supplies: Pro Longwear Lipstain Marker Swatches
I've been super-excited about the launch of M.A.C Pro Longwear Lipstain Markers since Fall 2010 Fashion Week. And finally, with the launch of the Art Supplies collection, they're here! I love that they really are like markers -- they bring back all of my fun coloring memories from childhood. Now, a word to the wise: THESE MARKERS STICK. If you draw a color on your lips, they'll be stained for the whole day. No amount of washing or makeup removing will do the trick. So be sure you really like the color before you're stuck with it!
Check out my swatches after the jump.
The Best Treats for Your Next Event: Street Sweets
At a press preview for UGG Australia recently, I had the immense pleasure of checking out Street Sweets. I loved the Coconut Macaroons Macarellas and Pumpkin Whoopie Pies so much, I simply had to treat my guests at a party I threw the following week to the deliciousness I had just discovered.
Believe me when I say that these sweets are immensely, intensely delicious. Each treat is like a little bite of heaven. My party guests enjoyed the following deliciousness:
Coconut Macaroons Macarellas
Pumpkin Whoopie Pies
Chocolate Whoopie Pies
Red Velvet Cupcakes
Vanilla Cupcakes
Chocolate Cupcakes
And you know what? I got all of that for only $10 a person! Even better, they were delivered to me on chic white trays, arranged so beautifully it was almost a shame to let my guests dig in! (Lucky for them, I let it happen.)
For more information on Street Sweets, check out their website here. You can also follow them on Twitter here.
